“Luke, now, hurry,” she pleaded.

Dragging his mouth away from her, he reached over to grab a condom from his nightstand and sheathed himself quickly. He was rock hard—painfully hard—and as desperate to be inside her as she seemed for their bodies to be joined together.

Clinging to control he positioned himself at her entrance but paused. “Tell me if it hurts, we’ll go as slowly as you need.” He was determined that she enjoy every second of this and he hated the idea that he might be about to cause her pain.

In answer, she thrust her hips up taking his length into her body. Summer sucked in a pained breath, and he froze.

“Does it hurt?”

“Just give me a second,” she replied. Her eyes were squeezed closed, and she was panting.

Luke was about to pull out of her impossibly tight heat when she sighed and relaxed beneath him. “You okay?”

“Perfect.” There was a smile on her lips, and her eyes burned with desire. “I forgot how good this feels.”

“Honey, I have never had it feel this good. You’re so tight.” Slowly he began to move, pulling up until only his tip remained inside her then down again until he was buried deep in her warmth.

They quickly found a rhythm, and Luke claimed her mouth again, his tongue mimicking their movements as he plundered her delectable mouth. He was so close, forcing himself to hold on, but he sensed Summer wasn’t quite there yet.

Balancing his weight on one arm, he reached between them, found her hard little bud, and tweaked it, and as he watched in wonder, Summer lost control. Her head tipped back, her eyes closed, and his name fell from her lips in a mumbled moan. Her internal muscles clamped around him, causing him to lose his own grip on control as he came in a powerful rush that felt like his body had been crying out for this his entire life.

“Wow,” Summer whispered, touching her lips to his in a soft kiss.

“Yeah, wow,” he agreed.

“I wouldn’t be opposed to doing that again.”

The mischief in her eyes made his heart soar to the same heights his body had just reached, and he threw back his head and laughed. “Yeah, babe, I wouldn’t be opposed to doing that again either.”

February 22nd

6:50 A.M.

She gave a long, contented stretch, arching every part of her body.

Summer had never slept so well in her life. Or at least in the last ten years. She felt completely rested and rejuvenated, and her body twinged and ached in all the right places.

It was all thanks to Luke.

Sex with Carlton had always been more about him than about her. He hadn’t been interested in making her feel good, only in using her to make himself feel good. Back then, she had been young and inexperienced and eager to please her husband. But Luke had made her feel things she had never even known were possible. He had made their lovemaking all about her, holding back his own pleasure to push her over the edge into ecstasy more times than she could count.

When they were done, they had fallen asleep, still entwined in each other’s arms. She didn’t remember waking once during the night. It was like her brain had known that she was safely spooned against Luke’s body, her back pressed tightly against his front, and so it had been able to let go of all its fears, worries, and insecurities and just simply rest.

As if even in sleep he had been able to sense her wake, Luke stirred. His arm had been draped across her hips, his hand resting on her stomach, but now his fingertips trailed a slow, lazy line from her belly button, up between her breasts, along the sensitive skin of her neck, along her jaw and rested on her lips.

“I know the perfect way to start the day,” Luke murmured sleepily in her ear. His warm breath against the back of her neck made her shiver delightfully.

Although that sounded tempting—verytempting—she couldn’t. “I have to go in to work this morning.”

His fingers left her lips and tangled in her hair, twirling it in circles. “I thought you took some time off from work to recover after the shooting.”

“I did. But I really want to be there for this meeting. I've been working with this little boy for over a year, it took me months to gain his trust, and I've been there with him every step of the way. I don’t want to let him down.”

“You're amazing, you know that?”

She sighed and snuggled closer, she didn’t know that. Most days she hadmajordoubts about the kind of person she was, but when Luke said it, she believed him.

“What time do you have to be at work?”
