I lived only for her.

“So Sugar Bliss? You want to eat a thousand calories after burning off maybe three hundred?” I winked to show her I was teasing. She didn’t always get my humor.

Stunning me, she tossed back her head and laughed. Clearly, today was exceptional. “Don’t be a brat. If I burned only three hundred calories after spending two hours working out with you, I’d say you weren’t doing your job very well, coach.”

I feigned hurt, placing my hand on my heart. “Ouch.”

She giggled with her hand covering her mouth.

What I wouldn’t do to wrap my arms around her and carry her to the locker room showers. I’d get on my knees every day to worship her, from her little toe up to her sweet pussy and tempting tits.

Down, boy. Your mind is going into the gutter again.

“You’re too much. You know that?” She blew out a calming breath. “I like this side of you.”

“Yeah?”

This time she most definitely blushed. “Yeah. Shall we go?” She thumbed toward the locker room.

“Yeah, let’s blow this joint and get high on sugar.”

Ava

I scanned my surroundings, absorbing the happy vibes and filling my nose with the glorious scents of yummy goodness. Sugar Bliss used to be my favorite place when I was a little girl. On the first day of every month, my nana would bring me foronetreat. She never had a lot of money, but she’d managed to buy me what I needed when I needed it. The memories in this place were plentiful. I remembered skipping inside and leaving my fingerprints all over the glass bakery cases. I used to be a chatterbox. Not anymore though.

My eyes landed on Drew across from me. I sensed he’d been watching me.

“Do you come here often?” I asked. It was a strange question, but there were still things I didn’t know about him, like what he did when he wasn’t with me.

“No, never. It’s not really my jam.”

“What is your jam?”

“The club. The gym. Riding my Harley.”

“Oh, of course.” I felt horrible. It was me who kept Drew from riding his bike. The rumble of the motor made my skin crawl. Bikers reminded me of the worst night of my life, except for Drew and his MC brothers. It had taken me quite a while to be comfortable around him and the others. But I’d get there. “I’m sorry I’ve kept you away from the things you enjoy.”

“You haven’t.”

“But you don’t spend as much time doing all the stuff you used to do before me.”

“Ava, you’re not keeping me from anything. I’m with you because I want to be.”

He was getting worked up. His road name suited him well. When I used to see him at The Bullet, I’d felt the ire dwelling in him. He tried to hide it from me now that we were friends, but it didn’t take much to unleash it.

“Okay. I didn’t mean to upset you.”

His jaw twitched. “You didn’t.”

“Liar,” I muttered as I raised my coffee mug to my lips. Drew didn’t scare me. If he lost his cool in front of me, raged and broke stuff, it wouldn’t bother me.Thatwas how much I trusted him to not hurt me.

He blew out a breath. “I wasn’t angry, just frustrated.”

“And there’s a difference?” I was totally being a brat.

He raised his brow. “Ava,” he said in a stern voice.
