“Madeline, what’s going on with you?”
“What’s going on with me? Nothing. I just never expected to hear from you again.” My friends’ eyes widened as they silentlyoohed.
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
“Seriously? It’s been five days. I’ve gotten nothing but radio silence from you. Whatever, I expected as much. Call off your prospect, or I’ll get a restraining order. See you around.”
“Don’t you fuckin’ hang up,” he roared.
I pulled the phone away from my ear.
Tara snickered. “Shit, he sounds furious. Probably needs a little somethin’, somethin’.” She wiggled her eyebrows.
“Well, he’s not getting anything from me.” I put the phone back to my ear. “What more do you have to say, Storm? I’m busy here.”
The girls snickered.
“I’ve been busy with shit, Madeline. I run an MC, you know?”
“You don’t owe me an explanation.” Not that one would be sufficient enough for ghosting me.
“Apparently, I do.”
“No. You don’t. But just so you know, there are forty-three thousand and two hundred seconds in twelve hours. One text saying, ‘Hey, how’s it going?’ only takes ten seconds tops to type. You weren’t busy with MC shit. You were being a dickhead and ghosting me. I’ll see you around.”
“Madeline! Goddammit, don’t hang up!”
I sighed. “What now?”
He growled low in his throat again. I felt the vibration in my chest. He was furious, but I wasn’t sure why he was doing this after getting nothing from him all week. I was afraid to hope he actually cared about me.
“Hero and Wolf are in the area. They’ll be there any second with AJ. They’ll escort you out if you need it.” A frustrated huff filled my ear. “I want you to come to the clubhouse.”
“I don’t know Hero or Wolf. And I have no desire to go to your clubhouse. Besides, it’s the Fourth of July. I’m with the girls. We’re fine to be out in broad daylight. It’s not like I’m alone.”
“I want to see you, Angel.”
I swallowed thick saliva, hating how I wanted to see him too. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
“It’s a great idea. We obviously have our wires crossed. I want to fix it.” His low, gravelly voice made me clench my thighs.
I breathed into the phone like it was his mouth touching my lips. I didn’t even realize I’d done it until he said, “Fuck. You’re wet for me, aren’t you?”
“Stop it. Be nice.”
“Oh, I’ll be nice, all right. When will you be here?”
“I didn’t say I was coming. I have things to do.” My eyes flitted to each one of my friends. As much as I wanted to see Storm, I already had plans with my girls.
“You’ll be coming all right. All over my cock, Angel. What time? Won’t take no for an answer.”
Damn him and his dirty talk. No guy had ever talked to me the way Storm did, and I loved it. “You sure are bossy.”
“Morning lovely ladies,” one of the Hunter’s said.
“Is one of them there?” Storm’s voice raised three octaves.
I cringed. “Yes.”
