All eyes stared blankly at the fuzzy black and white screen.
Each of us, holding our breaths, willing Matrix to come back.
The burner phone started to ring again, breaking the silence.
I reached for it, accepting the call as the speakers in the room crackled, but we all clearly heard the mother fucker say…. “Boom.”
I roared, breaking the phone in half, throwing the pieces against the wall.
I was going to kill that mother fucker.
I was going to rip out his fucking heart and eat it in front of him as the life drained out of his eyes. Then I would rip his fucking body from limb to limb and scatter his bones to the four winds as I bathed in his blood.
I wanted him dead.
I wanted his head stuffed and hanging on my wall.
The roaring in my head got louder and louder as the seconds ticked by. People around me dared not move. My demon was at the forefront, ready to make an appearance. It wanted blood. Lots of it.
“Phantom, hack into a satellite. I don’t give a fuck which one. I need both locations on the screen now.” Dylan ordered handing his sister over to Giovanni, who was standing in shock like the rest of us. “Ghost, Massacre, start making calls. Call everyone.”
Both men nodded, doing as they were told.
I could hear Phantom typing furiously on her computer.
Layla’s soft cries as Giovanni held her, he too in disbelief.
“Gadget!” Dylan shouted loudly as the young man appeared out of nowhere, the same shocked look upon his face the others were wearing.
That did not just happen.
It was a mistake. Some fucking sick joke to get my attention. It had to be. There was no fucking way in hell that bastard just eliminated two areas without a second thought.
Even I wasn’t that maniacal.
“I’m here.”
Dylan looked at Phantom’s brother and cryptically said. “I need you to do what we discussed. Understand?”
The young man nodded before he slipped out of the room.
“Phantom, how’s that link-up coming?”
“Almost there.” Her words barely registered as the gravity of the situation began to sink in. It was a hard pill to swallow. I knew this bastard’s reach was far.
I just never thought.
I couldn’t.
My mind became a black swirling pit of anger and despair. All those people. My brothers. My family. My friends. I dared not think of the children. The innocents.
All because of me.
Because I refused to fall in line.
There was no coming back from this.
There was nothing anyone could say.
Nothing I could do to atone for it.
I was going to hell and that mother fucker just solidified my entrance into the bowels of hell. I was going to burn in eternity…forever. But one thing I could look forward to was that I wouldn’t be alone.
I was taking that mother fucker with me.
