Sitting next to him while he slept, I said nothing when Roxy walked over to me. “He’s going to be alright Jessie.”

“I know that.”

“Hailey is sleeping. She’s a sweet baby.”

“Yes, she is and tonight she almost lost her uncle.”

“You saved him.”

“I know and when he wakes, I am going to kill him.”

Roxy laughed. “God, I love this club. Well, I’ll leave you to it then. If you need help, I’m here for ya girl.”

“Thanks.”

I wasn’t joking when I said I was going to kill Savage. I meant every word. The second I am out of sight, he goes off the rails. That was no way to have a relationship. I got him being mad at Reaper but to drink and then let that skank near his ass. That was unforgivable. I would not spend the rest of my life picking up the pieces of his fucked-up life.

Needing something to do, I got up and walked over to Ink’s door and lightly knocked. Opening the door, I found the young brother watching some cartoon on television.

“Hey, you’re here late tonight.”

“Thought since I was down here, I’d check up on you.”

“You okay?” Ink asked, lowering the volume on the television.

“Savage was drugged tonight.”

“Is he okay?”

“Yeah. I got to him in time. He’s sleeping it off right now.”

“That’s good. Who drugged him?”

“Darla.”

Ink whistled. “Wow. I bet Reaper was pissed.”

“I think he killed her.”

“And that upsets you?”

“Not really,” I admitted, leaning against the door jamb looking at the cartoon on TV.

“Jessie?”

“Yeah.”

“Whatever happened. He didn’t mean it.”

“You don’t know that.”

“Yes, I do. Savage loves you. He wouldn’t do anything to hurt you.”

“How do you know?”

“Because if you were mine, I’d rather cut out my own heart than hurt you. Savage may be many things but when it comes to you, trust that he loves you. Darla has been after him for years. In all that time, he’s always kept her at a distance. With you, he gives you everything. The good, the bad, the ugly. There are no secrets with you.”

“She was sucking his dick, Ink. I can’t get that image out of my head. I had to zip up his pants.”
