Reaper ended church but asked me, Phantom and Ghost to stay behind. I knew eventually he would get around to me. In a way, I was thankful that he didn’t chew my ass out in front of my brothers. Still, I braced myself for what was to come.

I’d left the club in a lurch. Left them one man down. Anything could have happened while I was gone and it would have been my fault. I am the Sergeant of Arms for the club and one of Reaper’s bodyguards when he goes out on runs.

“Lock the door, Ghost.” Reaper ordered, as Ghost got to his feet and did what he was asked. When Ghost sat back down Reaper looked directly at Phantom and asked, “Does your past effect the club now?”

That was an odd question to ask and when I looked over at Phantom, she looked…scared.

Phantom came to the Golden Skulls a little over a year ago. She came to us through Player. They had both been friends on the web, conversing and helping each other find lost and missing children. When their two paths collided, she had shown up at our clubhouse one day and never left. She had quickly integrated herself amongst us. None of us really knew anything about her, only that she was wicked smart with computers, lethal as hell and she was damn good at what she did. Because of her, this club had recovered hundreds of missing people and were able to start taking down those who were part of this trafficking ring constructed by the Original Seven.

After helping rescue Reaper’s woman, Remi and finding the link to the Original Seven, she became the first woman ever in Golden Skulls history to be patched in as a fully fledge member becoming our sister.

She was a respected member of this club, not only from her club brothers but by the Ol' ladies too. Yet, none of us really knew anything about her. We knew that Gadget was her biological brother and wherever she went, he wasn’t far behind. She was good at what she did and deadly when it came to hand-to-hand combat and firearms. But when it came to her past, we were all in the dark. So, as I watched Phantom carefully close her laptop, look from Ghost to me, to Reaper, before she answered, “Things are heating up but I’m not sure.” I didn’t know what to think. I’d never seen her scared before.

She was as solid as they came.

“Then get sure.”

Phantom nodded, saying nothing more.

Reaper then turned to me and asked, “What did you mean unless we’re looking at the wrong body?”

“Only that I wasn’t the only one Kitty trusted. There’s Bullseye.”

“Who’s in the wind,” Reaper added.

“Layla. They used to be roommates.”

“Who’s in Chicago with Giovanni under lock and key and there’s no way Layla would volunteer for that. She freaked the fuck out when I gave her my mark. She’s afraid of needles, so it isn’t her.”

“There might be one other.” I offered, as a memory flashed in my head. It was a longshot and since we were all grasping at straws, I couldn’t think of anyone else.

“Who?”

“Don’t know. There were a few times when I would stop to visit her at the house and she would be talking to someone on the phone. From what I could hear, she knew this person intimately, almost as if they were friends and Kitty didn’t have friends. You know that.”

“Male or female?”

“I don’t know. When she spotted me, she would hang up and say nothing. Like Bullseye and I have said before, Kitty kept everything close to the vest. She only told each of us what we needed to know.”

“Fuck, I hate this secretive cloak and dagger shit,” Reaper said, rubbing his hands down his face. “So just to be clear, there is a small chance that your sister, my Vault, possibly has everything she learned out there for anyone to find and that there are two known people who might have this information. One, we have no fucking clue as to his whereabouts and the other is a mystery person none of us have never met and know nothing about?”

“Yes.”

“Phantom, I need you to put out feelers. I need Bullseye located and then I want you to get Kitty’s phone records and start backtracking every fucking call she ever made.”

“That will take some time, especially if you want everyone person verified.”

“Just do it,” he said, leaning back in his chair, reaching for his cellphone. In the meantime, I will call Giovanni and tell him I need to speak with Layla just in case I’m wrong.”

With that, Phantom, Ghost and I left.

Heading upstairs, I found Jess in Bullseye’s room. It felt weird being in his room, as if I was intruding on his privacy. The man was an extremely private person. So much so, I wondered if my sister really knew the man she married.

None of us really knew Bullseye. Just the basics. He grew up in Tennessee, had a sister, his mother was dead, joined the Marines, and became a brother. That was it. Nothing about who made the man who he was. In a way, he was a lot like Phantom. Their past was their own and they never shared it with anyone.

Bullseye never partook in the club sluts. Never drank. His only vice was cigarettes. When he arrived at the club he was all about his sister, Layla, his wife, Kitty and their daughter Hailey. I worried for my sister in the beginning before I realized that Layla was his sister. When I learned that he was the biological father of Hailey, well my respect for him grew. In a way, I admired the fucker. He always did the right thing, regardless of what it cost him. He never lied and was there if anyone of ever needed him, which was often. The man could take a beating and still get the job done. He was just a real stand-up guy.
