She would make my life a living hell until she got what she wanted.

I knew that.

It was a fact.

Even looking at all the men surrounding us, I knew they would do nothing to help me.

I wasn’t going to walk out of this place alive.

See…being right sucked monkey balls.

So, when my aunt got to her feet, I knew it was game on. God forbid she got her own hands dirty. Nope, that wasn’t her way. Instead, she motioned for a man standing off to the side. At first glance, he looked harmless. Nothing to write home about. He was a balding, middle-aged man who looked more suited for a cubicle than where he was standing now. However, it was the black medical bag he was holding that captured my attention.

I didn’t need to ask what was in that bag or who he was.

I’d seen enough crime dramas to know he was the man that was going to cause me so much pain that my previous pain would feel like a tickle.

“Mr. Kind. Would you please?”

I snorted at that.

“Mr. Kind? Really?”

The man smiled. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Ms. Stevens. I’ve been a big fan for years. Your lecture on bio-medical enhancers was fascinating. Tell me. Did you ever determine which nerve receptacles diverted the cognizant application for pleasure?”

“No,” I muttered, stiffening in my seat as he placed several medical instruments on a small table near me.

“Shame. That would have been a fascinating lecture.” He said, picking up a scalpel.

“Um…you are going to sterilize that, right? Because infections are no joke and it’s been a while since I’ve had a tetanus shot.”

“I don’t think you need to worry about that,” he grinned, placing the scalpel down and picking up a syringe and a small vial of blue liquid.

“I’m not a fan of blueberry. Got any grape?” I whispered, as he stuck the needle in the vile and pulled back on the cap of the syringe, filling the tube a quarter of the way.

“I prefer orange myself but I am told this doesn’t taste anything like Kool-Aid.”

Flicking the syringe, he turned to me and added, “Now Ms. Stevens, let’s begin.”

The second he took a step towards me, the woosh-woosh sound of helicopter blades permeated the large warehouse. Mr. Kind quickly turned to my aunt, who was already moving quickly towards one of the exits.

Mr. Kind dropped the syringe and ran after her.

One problem down, now to deal with Costa.

The fat bastard grinned and he walked over to me, grabbed my jaw and squeezed tightly. “You my little Puta, are mine now.”

My eyes narrowed as I yanked my face out of his hands. “I’m no man’s whore.” I growled.

“I will have you splayed across my bed before nightfall.” The fat fucker sneered, yanking me from the chair. The ropes holding me cut into my wrists causing me to scream out in pain.

They say there is a moment in everyone’s life where time narrows and the world is defined in one second, for all that matters is what is before you. I never understood that. How can the world narrow? I’ve always known what mattered to me but hearing her struggle, fighting to free herself from the men who were hell-bent on killing her, I just knew.

It wasn’t me.
