“Sylvia St. James is the owner of Poseidon Innovation. The same company that backed Donatella’s research. Poseidon Innovation is twofold. One division deals with the many military contracts with the federal government and the other is pharmaceutical. Her company specializes in the latest modern urban warfare technology. Everything from drones to computer technology to fight the world's current war. As for the pharma side, they, along with three other pharmaceutical companies, got the bid to create the vaccine for the current pandemic. She is making billions.”

“The world is not at war.” Jonas stated.

“Aren’t we?” Reagan challenged. “Look Mod Squad, what you think you know about current events around the world is fake. None of it is real. All these skirmishes going on, mean nothing. The real war, the one that’s been going on for years, has nothing to do with bombs or destruction. It has to do with those in power. The world is in the middle of a hostile takeover. Those who have the power and those who don’t. The next war will not have guns. It will be fought with technology.”

“I knew it!” Declan shouted. “Thank you. I’ve been saying that shit for years. Finally, someone who believes.”

“Great, now we have two conspiracy theorists,” Trey muttered.

Holy shit, I thought listening to Donatella talk about her science shit was mind-numbing. Listening to Reagan was just as bad. I didn’t understand anything she just said. Not one bit.

“If you want to find Donatella, then track her.”

“How?” I asked.

“Through her own tech.”

“I can’t. Only she has the formula.”

“I’m not talking about her formula. Her tech is DNA-based, which means if she applied it, I could track her.”

“What?” I questioned, not understanding.

“DNA is singular. Distinct to each individual. No two humans on the planet have the same DNA. If Donatella applied her DNA to her tech, I can track her. I just need access to a computer.”

“For you to do that, she would have had to use her tech on herself,” Jonas stated.

“All the greats throughout history have used themselves as guinea pigs to test their theories. I don’t see Donatella being any different.”

“Hold up,” I butted in, confused but Bullseye spoke first.

“This tech. I’ve seen it before. The President of the Golden Skulls Reaper showed it to me. It’s small, no bigger than a grain of rice. It was in one of the club members' women, Ari. This tech subdued her, made her more docile. I’ve also seen it used in spec-op boys during my time in the Marines. In them, it made them more hostel, more aggressive. Those men have since disappeared.” Bullseye said, causing everyone to pay attention. That was his way. He really didn’t talk much but when he did, everyone listened.

“Hold up everyone. Just how would you know how to track her?” Merc asked, his eyes narrowing as he looked at Reagan.

I had to admit, I was curious as well.

“I created the system she used to formulate her tech.”

“You were part of her research program,” I gasped.

Reagan smiled. “And they say the pretty ones can’t be taught.”

“Jonas get her a laptop,” Merc said, getting to his feet as he stared at Reagan. “You are going to be a pain in my ass, aren’t you?”

“You’ll learn to love me.”

“The rest of you get ready to leave. When Reagan has Lorenzo’s woman location, we will leave. Expect heavy resistance and Marine. We need to talk.” Merc ordered as everyone scattered.

I found myself in a quiet room. I needed to process everything. It was all too much. Half of the shit said, I didn’t believe and the other was so far out in space, it couldn’t be real.

My head was pounding. My heart was beating too fast. These men and that woman were so far out of my league. I couldn’t do half the shit they could. They were trained for this shit. I wasn’t.

I could shoot and wield a bat.

That was it.

To make matters worse I didn’t know these men. How could I trust them? They didn’t know me. They didn’t know how I thought or how I operated. They were strangers to me. They were their own team. They’d been together for years.
