“Dr. Howard. This way,” a female nurse said, walking over to us while I stayed beside Lorenzo.

“Thank you, Katie,” the doc said, following. Once Lorenzo was loaded, the doc turned to me. “He will be fine, Donnie. I promise.”

Nodding, I was escorted over to one of the jeeps.

The ride from the airport to the main complex didn’t take long. Looking at the large building and the many smaller houses we passed, I wondered how long my cousin had been planning this. The island was laid out like a small village, with homes, shops and stores for anything we could possibly want. There were even several playgrounds and a school within walking distance from the small village. The area was beautiful, with large palm trees and vibrant flowers everywhere I looked. The temperature was warm but not hot and I could hear the sound of the ocean not too far away.

This place was something else. I tried to absorb everything I saw as the jeeps slowed to a stop in front of a large mansion.

The staff was waiting on us when we all got out of the vehicles, eager to grab our bags as we followed them inside. I didn’t know what we were doing in this place but when I spotted Jonathon, I sighed in relief just a bit.

“Welcome to the island,” he greeted, then ordered. “Follow me.”

The mansion was massive. As I walked, I noticed that upstairs was a small lobby, a few offices and lots of rooms. However, the real living area was downstairs. There were so many rooms with a large common area, a huge double kitchen with every appliance I could imagine and enough bathrooms to serve a small third-world country. There was also a kid’s room, a game room, a large library, a media room and so many electronics to scare the NSA.

We were all shown our rooms and when I turned to Jonathon, he smiled. “He’s this way.”

I followed Jonathon, descending another flight of stairs to the hospital section of the building. Seeing Dr. Howard, Jonathon motioned me towards a room. Entering, I smiled when Lorenzo grinned at me, “Hi baby.”

Rushing to him, I hugged him tightly. Thankfully he was finally awake. I still couldn’t believe he did what he did for me. I was so worried. Now I was happy. He was awake.

“I was so worried.” I whispered.

“Why do I hear the ocean?”

Sitting next to him on his bed, I said, “Because we are on the island. After everything that happened, Gideon thinks this is the only place I will be safe. The team is here too. Your family will be arriving next week.”

“What?” Lorenzo said, trying to sit up. Carefully pushing him back down, I added, “They showed up right after we got you to the doc. Gio wasn’t happy. If it wasn’t for Merc, your brother would have lost it. Anyway, Gio knows everything. Gideon called him. Your brother needed to return to Chicago to take care of some things and get the whole family packed. Gio said he wasn’t leaving anyone behind.”

“The whole family?”

“Everyone.”

“Shit.”

“Yeah.”

“What about your aunt?”

“Don’t know and I don’t care. I just want to forget about her.”

“Easier said than done baby.”

A knock at the door had me turning to see Jonathon walk in with Merc and another man. A tall skinny man with so many tattoos. Covered in head-to-toe tattoos and piercings, I wasn’t sure there was a spot that was bare on him. He wore Emo clothes, baggy black pants and chains over his chest. But what caught my attention was the black leather vest he wore with the Golden Skulls M.C. Patch over his right chest.

“Lorenzo, Donnie, this is my brother Jake Savage. He also goes by Matrix in the Golden Skulls.”

“You work for Reaper?” Lorenzo asked.

Matrix nodded.

“Does he know about…”

“No,” Jonathon interrupted, before Lorenzo could finish what he was about to say, then added, “I need Donnie to go with my brother. He found the tech she created in one of the club’s Ol’ ladies. He knows how to remove it. If Reagan could track her, we can’t take the chance the Division can too. We need to remove that tracker as soon as possible.”

Saying nothing, I quickly kissed Lorenzo and left with the man called Matrix. He was very talkative but I didn’t think he would be. We didn’t go far, just down the hall a few feet when a door slid open. Inside was a complete body x-ray machine. “Please stand on the red dot and do not move.”

Doing as he instructed, I held perfectly still as the machine moved up and down my body. It took less than ten seconds and when it was done, I went to stand next to Matrix while my scan slowly appeared on the screen.
