It was a hollow threat.
I knew he didn’t mean it.
Honestly, I was surprised he hadn’t taken me to the shed for the shit I pulled back in Vegas. Instead of putting me in my place, he just let me get it all out.
Thinking about anything else, I asked, “Any word on Savage?”
Reaper sobered, leaned back in his chair, and shook his head. “No. Jessica checks in with me to give me updates on Bullseye, but as for Savage, nothing. When they took Kitty away, he disappeared. I’m going to give him some time to himself before I send someone after him.”
“When does Kitty arrive?” Viper asked quietly.
“Tomorrow. Healer already called over to Franklin’s Funeral Home. They are going to pick her up at the airport and take her back to their place to make sure she is ready for burial.”
“The works?” I asked.
“Nothing but the best for my Vault,” Reaper whispered. “She is getting a true Golden Skull Burial. The Montana and Tennessee Chapter are driving in for the sendoff.”
“Are we really going to have her funeral without Savage?” Viper asked, concerned. I agreed. We couldn’t bury Kitty without Savage here. He needed to say goodbye.
“It’s already been four days. I will give him a few more days, but I want her at peace. She sacrificed everything for this club. The least we can do is honor her in a timely manner.”
“What about the Miami Chapter?” I asked.
Reaper nodded and said, “What’s left of them should be here tonight. I had Sypher try to locate Toxic after shit went sideways. The kid has no clue where he’s at.”
“What exactly happened?” I asked.
“In a nutshell, my Vault took matters into her own hands. I ordered Toxic to pick a few members of the Miami Chapter to meet up with Savage and Kitty to rescue Sandman. Well, he never showed. No one did. From what Savage told me, Kitty refused to wait any longer and charged head-on into a wall of bullets. My Vault did me proud, though. Couldn’t ask for a better Golden sister. She took as many of the fuckers with her before someone got the bead on her.”
No one said anything as we all let what said Reaper sink in. For me, it was hard hearing because I wasn’t there to help support my brothers. Yeah, Massacre and I showed up at the end, but Reaper was right. Kitty needed help, and if I had been there with them before everything happened, I would have quickly volunteered to go with her.
She was going to be dearly missed.
The loud sounds of pipes alerted us that bikes were coming up the drive. Getting to our feet, we all walked into the main room and out into the warm sun of the day as several bikes and three SUVs pulled into the compound.
“Expecting company, boss?” I asked, reaching behind my back for my gun.
“No,” Reaper said as the bikes lined up. It wasn’t the bikes we were worried about, but the three SUV’s. I stayed next to Reaper as he stepped down the stairs.
“Hey, boss!” Massacre said, smiling as he jumped from one of the SUV’s. “You’ll never guess who we rescued on the side of the road.”
As my brother opened the back door, he held out his hand, and before any of us could react, we all heard, “Did you have to hit every damn pothole, Massacre! Move out of my way. I have to pee!”
“Remi! What the fuck, woman!” Reaper shouted as he ran over to the short blonde woman who only held her hand out in front of his face to stop him as she walked past, “I’m not talking to you, asshole.”
Trying hard, me and the brothers failed miserably as we all watched Reaper trail after the tiny but very pregnant mad woman.
“She refused to stay away any longer,” Roxy said, reaching for Becca, who when she saw her father squealed, “Daddy!”
Ghost moved quickly as he grabbed his daughter, hugging her.
“Remi was very insistent,” Ari said as she walked around the SUV right into Ghost’s arms, with Remi’s siblings, Sunny and Jax, following.
It was then I spotted Angela and Hailey.
No one said a word.
What could we say?
