Moaning, I rolled over to find the bed empty. Hearing the shower running, I got up, walked into the large bathroom to find Gio leaning against the shower, his head under the spray.

Opening the glass door, I walked in behind him, reaching for the washrag and scented soap. Lathering it up, I placed it on his back and started to wash his back.

He didn’t move.

Taking my time, I made sure that I washed every inch of him. I loved touching him. His back was corded and defined, just as his front, and as my hand moved over him, I felt his muscles flex under my touch. I loved how his waist narrowed. His firm ass looked as if Michelangelo sculpted it himself. His strong legs, even his feet, were empowering. Just being this close to him as he did nothing to stop me, I allowed my desires to take root.

Moving around him, I tenderly caressed his skin until I was standing before him. I looked at his face and saw that his eyes were closed. His brow creased as if he were in pain.

I wanted so much to ease his suffering as he did mine.

I never imagined that Giovanni Valentinetti could be harmed, yet standing before him as the hot water sprayed around us, my heart broke for him. Whatever was troubling him weighed heavily.

Reaching up, I cupped his face and whispered, “I love you.”

I knew it was trite, that it was something he didn’t need to hear at the moment, but no other words came to mind. And when he grabbed my face and kissed me hard, I surrendered to him.

Giving in to my own desires, I opened my mouth as his tongue swept in. At this moment, there was no Gio or me. Only us. One person, feeding off each other as we both took what we needed.

His hands gripped my waist and lifted me. My legs went around his waist instantly as he turned, forcefully pushing my back against the shower wall. His mouth never left mine as I wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him deeper. I could feel his cock at my entrance, and in one swift thrust, he was inside me again, ravaging me.

His intense desire fueled my own as I could only hang onto him as he plundered my body. He was relentless, driven, controlled as each thrust consumed my soul. He was veritably breaking down all my walls as I succumbed to his needs and desires. His ravenous appetite matched mine kiss for a kiss as his hold tightened, and with one final thrust, he roared out his release.

Gasping for air, my body melted into him. My legs felt like jelly as they slid to the tiled shower floor.

In the short time I’ve known him, Giovanni had awakened me, and now all I see is him.

“Layla,” Gio whispered just as the lights went out in the bathroom. “Stay here.” Whatever he was about to say vanished as he turned, pushing me into the corner of the shower.

Nodding, I stayed as the hot spray chilled my body. I could hear someone moving in the suite. I said nothing as Giovanni reached under the towel sitting on the bathroom sink.

I heard a distinctive click, and then he was gone.

My heart pounded harshly in my chest as the sounds from the suite surrounded me.

I heard glass shatter.

Someone grunt.

Then a loud bang.

That was all I needed for adrenaline to rush through my veins. Reaching for the robe on the back of the door, I ran into the living room to find Giovanni standing over a dead body.

Quickly putting on the robe, I tightened the sinch just as Salvatore and Massacre rushed into the room along with the four guards Victor left for my protection. Each man had guns drawn as they began sweeping the suite.

Giovanni pointed his gun at Dario when they assembled back in the living room. “Where the hell were you?”

Dario quickly put his hands up but said nothing.

“You were supposed to protect her!” he shouted.

“Gio, they were in the room with me. Right next door. We had the whole floor secured,” Salvatore said calmly, putting his gun away.

Gio rounded on his brother and yelled, “Really, Salvatore! Then explain how he got into my room!Thatis not protecting her! Who was supposed to be on the door?”

When no one said a word, I walked over to Gio and reached for his hand. I’d never seen him this angry before, and when he pulled me closer to him, hugging me, I relaxed into him.

Mattia was kneeling before the body, then stood. “That’s Ricco Bianchi. This was a hit, Dario.”
