“Maybe,” Piper said. “Now, quiet down while I introduce you to Quinn Harper. Quinn, this is Luna McKinley, social media influencer and creator of the best face oil on the planet.”

Luna was tall, blond, and elegant and had the look of a model. Great cheekbones, she thought.

“Hi, Quinn.” Luna had a really nice smile too. She wondered if there was anything ugly about the woman.

“This short bundle of aggravation is Rory. She’s married to my cousin Jack and was once Aurora Haldane.”

The short woman with the wild head of fair curls was dressed like Quinn. Scruffy. She was also scowling now.

“Come on, Rory, you need to get that out straight away,” Piper said. “Then we can all move on to telling people how much you’ve changed from the spoiled mean girl you were.”

“She looks stunned, and I can’t even remember her at school, which tells me I was a bitch to her as well,” Rory snapped.

“No. You didn’t do anything to me,” Quinn said.

“But others?”

“Maybe?” Quinn felt uncomfortable.

“Well, wipe it from your memory, because she’s nice now,” the other woman with them said. “But can still be mean when required.”

“Mandy Robbins,” Piper said.

Mandy had brown hair and a gentle smile, and Quinn remembered she was the Robbins sisters’ niece. She also remembered she’d never spoken much during school and was usually reading a book in a corner.

“Do you play basketball, Quinn?” Rory asked.

She still couldn’t believe this woman was Princess Aurora Haldane. She’d once ruled the school with intimidation and bullying. Her clothes were always the latest fashions, and she had made the life of anyone she didn’t like hell.

“Ah, yes I do.”

“She’s tall.” Mandy came closer and stared at Quinn.

“What are you doing on Saturday?” Piper asked her.

“Just helping Dad out on the farm.”

“Cool. Well, we’re one down, so you’ll do. Wear black shorts.”

“Aurora—”

“Rory.” She shuddered. “I don’t go by that name anymore.”

“Do you have black shorts?” Mandy asked Quinn.

“Yoga shorts,” she found herself saying.

“Good enough. You can play.”

“Ah, I’m not sure I can, actually.”

“Why?” Rory asked her. Clearly she was still as blunt as she’d always been. Just, apparently nicer. “You don’t look unfit. In fact, you look like Luna. Sickeningly healthy.”

“There is no such thing as sickeningly healthy.” Luna rolled her eyes. “I’m getting tea before you throw any more insults my way.”

“Sarah just told me that you were home, dear.”

Quinn turned to find Miss Marla, Miss Sarah’s sister. She was dressed the same. In fact, the sisters appeared more alike than ever now. She also liked to hug.
