“I’m not a mafia boss,” I said, breaking the awkward silence, my high sending me higher. “Not yet. I still have to kill my father before I earn that title.”

Cole chuckled and went back to his seat. “Sorry about her. Shit’s been bad lately. She’s been fucking off with this Anson prick. He’s making things a little miserable around here.”

“Anson Beyers?” Levin asked, glancing at me.

I frowned. Beyers. Beyers…

“Trent?” I asked, frowning.

“What?” Enzo settled back in his seat.

“Trent Beyers is a lord,” I said.

Enzo raised his brows. “Well, that’s some interesting news we haven’t heard yet. Cole?”

“On it,” he muttered, pulling out his phone.

“You want some?” E asked Levin, holding up the vial.

“Will I be able to drive after? I can’t be high as fuck and stuck here if we need to leave.”

“The high should be wearing off by the time we’re done. But I really think you’ll be fine to even drive on it. It doesn’t cloud your mind.” E pulled out another new needle. “So… yeah?”

Levin nodded. “Fine.” He rolled up his sleeve.

E set to work loading him up. Levin sank back in his seat and breathed out, blinking his blue eyes.

“Wow,” he murmured.

“You can add on the other strains. You can smoke and snort anything else. Even do some weed with it if that’s your thing,” Cole said.

“What about heroin?” I asked.

Enzo tilted his head. “You push heroin?”

“My father and the lords do. How is the mix? We can’t have people mixing and dying.”

“People who take heroin run the risk of dying anyway,” E said softly. “Sugar won’t show up on any drug test, so even if someone loads up on both, which I hope they won’t, heroin will be the only thing they’ll be able to find. I’d like to think my drug is better than heroin.”

“It is,” I said, enjoying another rush. “I’ve done heroin before. Wasn’t a fan.”

“I’m surprised you’ve chased the amber-eyed whore,” Enzo said, studying me.

“My father forced it on me. Gun to my head situation.”

“That’s fucked up.” A sad look crossed Enzo’s face. “I’ve been fortunate in the father department. Mine is a good man. He’s rather impressed with the empire we’ve been building. He’s… proud.”

“You’re lucky. Some of us aren’t.”

Enzo nodded and went silent, clearly thinking.

“Trent Beyers. Brother of Anson Beyers,” Cole called out, his body trembling with rage. “Look.” He held his phone out to Enzo.

A dark expression crossed his face, and he cursed loudly. “Get Fox on the phone,” he snapped.

Cole jumped into action and left the room to deal with their issues.

E scrubbed his hand down his face. “She’ll be fine. Anson is a decent guy.”
