“Love is pain.”
“Ain’t that the truth.” He sighed and stared at his feet.
Dom looked back at us.
“Butif you’re able to suffer that pain, I’d say it’s worth it.” I stepped forward into his space.
He looked down at me, his dark eyes bright.
“You’ll know when it’s right…Enzo.”
I leaned in and gave him a hug. He tensed for a moment before he hugged me back.
“Thank you, Bianca. I’m really sorry about Vincent. And you.”
“I get it.” I pulled away from him. “Everyone has to play a monster in this world.”
He nodded. “Indeed we do.”
“Just don’t fuck over my guys so you don’t have to see my monster.”
He let out a laugh. “You have my word, Queenie.”
I smiled at his nickname for me. He opened the door, and I stepped out first. Dominic immediately came to me and took the gun from my hand before wrapping his arm around my waist.
“We’ll see you soon,” Dominic said, giving Enzo a nod.
“Absolutely. Have a good night,” Enzo said.
Dominic steered me away from the mob prince and led me to his car. Levin opened the back door, and I slid in to find Vincent already in the back. Levin joined us a moment later.
“You good to drive?” Levin asked Dominic.
“Yeah. The little I tried has pretty much worn off.”
“Drop me at my car,” Fallon said from the front seat as Dominic got in and started the engine.
We pulled away from the building and onto the street.
“What did De Luca want?” Dominic asked, his voice tight.
“If he wanted you to know, he wouldn’t have asked to speak to me alone,” I snapped back, still pissed at him.
“Wasp, I’m really tired. I’m sorry you’re angry. I need to know what he wanted. I need to know he’s trustworthy.”
“He is,” I said softly. “That’s all you need to know.”
He tightened his grip on the wheel as I rested my head against Vincent’s shoulder, my hand in Levin’s on his lap. Dominic was pissed, but so was I.
But what else was new?
* * *
Fallon leaned over the front seat to kiss me, but I turned my head away from him.
He paused for a moment. “I love you, princess.”
Sighing, I faced him. “I love you too.”
