I knew the kings’ court was in the club too, plus back on campus to keep a watch on things. The fact Dominic had this many people under his thumb still astonished me.
He pulled me onto his lap once we settled in our massive circular booth. I curled into him as he wrapped his arms around me.
“Find them,” he commanded Vinny and Levin.
Both nodded and backed away from us before disappearing from sight.
“You’re so bossy,” I murmured into his ear.
“You don’t like when I’m bossy?” he growled back, his hands clenching my waist.
“Not to Levin and Vinny. Or Fallon.”
“I’ll be sure to give them comforting hugs when they return.” He nipped my earlobe.
“Good,” I said, smiling as he kissed along my neck.
He pulled away a moment later as an employee set a bottle of expensive liquor in front of us with several glasses and backed away.
“Let’s have a drink,” Dominic said, unwinding his arms from me and reaching for the alcohol.
Immediately, I bristled and reached for his hand as he moved to pour us a drink.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.
“I-I…is it safe?”
His fingers came back to my face, and he cradled my cheek. “Yes,mia regina, it’s safe. I asked for this to be ready for us. I promise no harm will come to you.”
I licked my lips, my nerves jittering.
“OK,” I finally said, my breath coming out shaky.
He kissed my hand then moved back to the bottle and poured a small amount in each of our glasses.
I took mine and moved to just swallow it down, but he tutted softly at me.
“This is Louis XIII. Appreciate it, my love. Smell.”
I watched as he lifted the glass to his nose and breathed in the scent. I mimicked him, making a ghost of a smile cross his face.
“Now a tiny sip. Just a drop for your tongue.”
I watched as barely a drop wet his plump lips. I did what he did, licking along the moisture it left behind on my lips.
“Do you like it?” he asked, running his hand high on my thigh.
I nodded. It was good.
“Then drink. Carefully.”
I took a small sip, enjoying the taste as it blossomed on my tongue.
Once I’d finished my glass, I placed it on the table, enjoying the warmth that swept through my body and snuggled back against Dominic. He finished his drink and wound his arms around me again.
“You’re late,” Dominic’s deep voice rumbled out moments later.
“Sorry,” Fallon mumbled, sliding across from us into the booth.
