Chapter 28
Stormy
The small room waslit with soft white fairy lights. A vase of deep burgundy roses sat on the table. A single matching rose in a silver bud vase sat at the center of the table surrounded by lit white candles. Gambit led me to the table, pulling out the chair before sitting here.
He sat in the chair across from her. Shortly after we settled, our server came in.
“Good evening, my name is Franc, I’ll be your server this evening.” He handed us each a menu. “What can I get you to drink?”
He took our orders while we looked at the menu.
“What looks good, bébé?
I laughed. “Uh, everything.”
He joined in the laughter. “I’ll tell you what since it’s your first time, you order two different meals, and we can share. I love everything on the menu.”
“Can we do that for appetizers and dessert too?”
“Absolutely. Order as much as you want. What we don’t eat I’ll have boxed up and sent back to the clubhouse.”
“Really?”
“It’s your birthday. Even if it wasn’t, I’d do it. I will do anything for you, my Queen.”
I felt my face flush red. I love when he calls me his queen. My heart flutters beating faster than a snitch in the firstHarry Potterbook.
“I love you, Beau Landry.”
“I love you, Stormy St. James.”
When Franc came back, I ordered two appetizers, one with oysters and one with duck. Chicken Creole, crab au gratin, and a ribeye for our main course. With sautéed spinach, portobello mushrooms and Brabant potatoes. To accompany the meal, I ordered a couple famous cocktails from their menu.
Franc brought the appetizers and the cocktails at the same time. They were both heavenly. The food arrived next. That first bite of crab au gratin was nothing less than a mouthgasm. The fresh crab meat, bechamel sauce, tons of cheese, just the right amount of green onion and the breadcrumbs gave it a perfect texture.
“This is delicious.”
“Not as delicious as you, bébé.”
“How do you know?” I attempted and failed at keeping the squeak out of my voice.
