I know that I was still young when he left, that what I think was the pull of my mate could just be infatuation, but if it is, then I will know when I see him again.
The SUV coming to a halt has me opening my eyes, seeing that we are parked outside what I think must be their motorcycle club because there are a couple of Harley’s parked outside.
“Good thing we took the SUV to pick up the parts or you would have to bring her on your ride,” the driver says.
“The only woman on the back of my steed is my Ol’ lady,” Hunter mutters as he opens the door and gets out. Stepping to the back, he opens my door, waiting for me to get out. When I move, I want to cry out at the wrenching pain that shoots up my side, but I hold it in as I don’t want them to know how miserable I’m feeling.
“Come on, let’s get you inside,” Hunter says as he inclines his head towards the main door of the building. Every step feels like I’m pulling a ton of bricks behind me, but I keep on telling myself that I am nearly there.
When I step inside the building, I see a woman rushing towards us with a wide smile on her face. “Miss me?” the driver of the SUV, who is now standing next to me, asks as he slides his arms around the woman, pulling her close as he lowers his head to kiss her.
I’ve realized that Fang must have found himself another pack to be a part of, because these men are clearly shifters. The affection that I see with this woman and the man makes it evident that they must be mates.
“Blue, get a fucking room,” a man walking towards us says.
Raising my eyes, I’m surprised to feel a chill run down my spine. This man must be their Alpha, as everything about him speaks of animalistic power. He comes to a stop a few feet away from us, his eyes intense as he takes in everything about me, as if he is delving into my very soul.
When his eyes finally leave me and turn to Hunter, I breathe out in relief.
“She was looking for Fang at the gas station.” Hunter’s statement has the alpha inclining his head slightly in contemplation. “She’s been injured and says she needs his help.” Those last words have the man frowning as he once again turns his eyes towards me.
I hear footsteps behind me, but I don’t turn, jumping in surprise when the alpha suddenly shouts, “Go get Fang!”
The footsteps I was hearing approach suddenly start to retract again, which tells me that whoever was coming in is now going to call Fang.
The fact that I am about to see Fang after such a long time has my heart racing and my mouth feeling dry. “Can I sit down?” I ask, feeling my head start to swim. The alpha inclines his head towards the nearest table and chairs near me, which has me moving towards them and sitting in the first chair I can find.
I need to keep my wits about me, because I must tell Fang everything. If Grimm follows me here, I want Fang to know that he is dangerous. I want him to know what Grimm is capable of.
“Do you know Fang?” the alpha asks as he comes to stand before me.
“Since I was a kid.”
He tenses. “You from his pack?” he asks.
When I nod, his head snaps towards Hunter and he glares.
“Fuck, I didn’t know,” Hunter says in anger.
“Too fucking late now,” the alpha replies as he pulls out a chair and then takes a seat. By their reaction, it’s evident that Fang doesn’t want anything to do with his pack. I knew that coming here was a gamble. I knew that after everything that happened with the pack and the way he left, that he might never want to see anyone from there again. But I had to try.
My heart races when I start to think of Fang sending me away. I have nowhere to go—no one that I know besides my pack. But I can’t go back there because I know that Grimm will make sure that I die before I can tell anyone about what he is capable of.
The alpha’s head turns towards the door. A few minutes later I hear footsteps and then Fang’s familiar voice.
“You called me?”
Turning my head, my eyes clash with Fang’s. I can feel the blood draining from my face when I see his familiar features, but there is a hardness to him that there wasn’t before.
“Fang,” I whisper.
Recognition flashes in his eyes.
I stand and turn, ready to run into his arms, but the movement has me swaying from all the blood I’ve lost, and then everything starts rotating, the floor rushing up to meet me.
