MYSTIQUE 3
I know I have a fever; the wound inflicted by Grimm is starting to get infected. But until I can get to Fang, I’m not going to stop and try to clean it out properly with an antiseptic.
Climbing off the bus takes up all my energy, but I take in a deep breath as I walk towards the exit. When the bus was driving into Umkomaas, I saw some of the area, seeing the reason for Fang moving here. The area is beautiful, and he is far away from the pack, so he won’t run into them here.
Outside, I lean against the building, looking up and down the road as I groan. If I wasn’t feeling so drained, I would have been excited to finally see Fang after all these years, but at the moment, I would gladly just sleep for a week.
Squeezing my eyes shut, I try to appease some of the pain shooting through my head. I need to find the Motorcycle Club that Fang now belongs to. Opening my eyes, I start making my way across the road to a gas station on the other side. I’m sure they will know where I can find Fang.
Opening the door, I slip in, waiting for a lady that is paying for her gas to leave before I approach the counter. “Hi, can you tell me where I can find the Wolverine’s Motorcycle Club?” I see the woman behind the counter raise her brows at my question, then her eyes are running over my face and down my body.
“I can do better than that,” she says as she looks over my shoulder.
“Hunter, this girl is looking for your MC.”
I glance over my shoulder to see who she’s talking to, only to find a man standing at the back of the store. He is tall because I can see his head turn towards me, and then his eyes run over my face too, just before a frown appears.
“You are looking for my MC?” he asks, coming around the side of the shelf so I can see his leather jacket with the logo on it. He doesn’t seem like a very friendly sort, but I am used to rough men, so he doesn’t frighten me.
I nod at his question.
His eyes run over my body again, then he lifts his head as if he’s smelling something in the air and scowls.
I can tell he smells the blood on me and that’s why he’s now looking at me suspiciously. That means this man is also a shifter.
“Why are you looking for the MC?” he asks, coming to a stand next to me as he places two slabs of chocolates on the counter.
“I’m looking for Fang,” I whisper, not knowing if this man knows Fang or if Fang is actually going by his real name.
Both his eyebrows shoot up in surprise. “Why?”
Now it’s my turn to frown. I never thought I would get interrogated before I could actually see him, but if this is the only way to get to Fang, then I am more than happy to oblige this man’s curiosity.
“I need his help.”
Suddenly, his hand snaps out, and he is lifting my hoodie partway up my torso until he sees the blood seeping through the bandage I placed there. “What are you doing?” I snap, taking a step back as I pull down my hoodie.
“Who did that?” he asks with an angry note in his voice. I don’t know this man, and I have already told him more than I should. I will have to ask someone else how to get to the club without this man’s assistance. Turning, I take a step away when Hunter’s hand snaps around my arm.
“I thought you wanted Fang’s help,” he states, holding me firmly. The remnants of my energy are dissipating fast and if he doesn’t, let go of me soon, I will fall flat where I am.
“I do,” I whisper.
“Fuck, I know I’m going to regret this,” he mutters as he takes the chocolates from the counter with his free hand and guides me out towards a SUV that is parked at one of the pumps.
I should be screaming bloody murder, but I’m too exhausted to say anything because all I want to do is close my eyes and go to sleep. “What the fuck, Hunter?” a handsome guy in the driver’s seat asks when I’m being helped into the back seat.
“She is looking for Fang,” Hunter states when he gets into the passenger seat.
“Well, this will be interesting,” the guy mutters as he pulls away from the gas station. “And why the fuck am I smelling blood?”
“She’s injured,” Hunter grunts as he glances over his shoulder at me. I would say something, but instead, I close my eyes and lay my head back.
“King is not going to like this,” the driver snaps.
I ignore the rest of their conversation as I think back to everything that happened since I ran away. I know that Grimm will be coming after me, and I don’t want to be the reason why Fang and Grimm fight again, but I don’t have anywhere else to go, and after wanting to see Fang for such a long time, I didn’t want to go anywhere else but here.
I know that Fang might not want to see me, that he might send me away, but at least I tried. I know that Fang is my mate, and even though he was kind to me and protective while he was still with the pack, he never once showed any sign that he thought of me as anything else but a younger sister.
