“Great. Let’s go eat something I’m starved,” Fang calls out as he gets off his bike too. I would rather be out there doing something, but I know that it’s useless riding up and down the streets. Parking my bike, I follow them inside as they head towards the bar area. Staying at a five-star hotel means that the bar is open twenty-four hours, which is lucky because at this time, I don’t think we would find many places to eat at.
“Mr. Strada, how can I help you, Sir?”
I see the others grunt as they walk away to sit at a table. We’re not the Mr. or sir type of guys, but since becoming famous, I have gotten used to people acknowledging me like that.
“Can we have some menus?” I see him stiffen slightly, but then he nods as he leans under the counter and pulls out a couple of menus.
“I’m afraid only the after-hours menu is available at this time.” I take the menus from him and nod as I make my way towards where the others are sitting.
“You look like shit. What the hell have you been doing?” Fang asks as he leans back on his chair.
“I was riding the streets trying to see if I could find her. If her car is parked outside where she lives, I would’ve been able to find her.”
“Lame, but better than not doing anything, I guess,” Dixon mutters,
“Why the fuck did you come?” I grunt, irritated at his comments.
“To cheer you up.” I swear if looks could kill he would be torn apart by now.
“May I take your order?” the bartender asks, saving me from answering Dixon. Fang starts by ordering two beef burgers, warning the bartender that he might order more when he’s finished. I see the bartender’s look of surprise, but he doesn’t comment. When the bartender finally leaves, I pick up my phone. I can’t wait any longer. Whoever answers the phone on the other side of this call will have to excuse me, but patience was never one of my greatest traits.
“Are you doing it now?” Fang asks, sitting forward and placing his elbows on the table.
“Yeah,” I reply as I make the call. I really hope Siena is the voice on the other side, but if she isn’t, I hope the person that answers knows where I can find her.
“Hello?” a sleepy woman’s voice replies.
“I’m looking for Siena.” There is silence for a few seconds, which has me believing the woman went back to sleep, but then she answers.
“Who?”
“Siena, she’s a nurse.” I hear a man’s voice in the background mumbling about who is calling this early.
“So, why are you phoning me?” I swear I could just crush this phone right now. It’s like pulling teeth.
“This is the number we have for her,” I reply. “Are you her parents?” I see Goliath raise his brow.
The woman seems amused when she answers, “No, but I know Siena,” she says. “Why are you looking for her?”
Oh, fuck me, what is this,Twenty Questions?
“She was at a concert last night and left something behind, I want to return it.”
I see the others grin, and I hear Dixon whisper to Frost, “Yeah, she lefthimbehind.”
I glare at him as I hear the woman moving about, probably getting out of bed.
“Oh dear, I will give you her number and you can call her.” She goes on to read me the number, which I thank her for before disconnecting the call.
“Great, at least now you have her number,” Fang says as the food arrives. “Would have been good to get a last name, too, but hey why make it easy?”
“Do you really think that woman was going to give me her last name? She was already suspicious and didn’t want to give me her number,” I reply angrily, frustrated with how slow it is.
“Maybe. Let’s see if the number is registered first. It would give us an address to go to instead of you phoning and spooking the woman.”
Frost has a point. There is a reason she ran, and I know it’s not because she didn’t like me. There might be the chance that if I phone her, she will bolt and disconnect her phone. Typing the number into a message, I send it to King, asking for them to check it and send me the details.
“Hang in there, Brother, we will find her,” Goliath says as he picks up one of his burgers.
