I kiss him and then kiss Nick. Valerie looks at me, leaning her head to the side slightly. She’s had a whole lot of questions about how I’m with the guys, their reactions to it, etc. Roman nudges my foot with his and gives me a nod.
We walk into the private box and I sit on Roman’s lap, kissing him softly. He whispers in my ear. “I had the conversation.”
I groan and kiss him again, sucking his bottom lip and nibbling him. Holden rubs the back of my neck and I remember that we’re in public. I draw back and laugh at Roman wearing my lipstick. I wipe his lips and he chuckles.
“That’s not your color, Roman.” Nick teases.
Valerie shakes her head. “You guys are wild. I can’t believe you just make things work.”
“It’s the same as being in any other relationship,” Gunner says. “And I just so happen to enjoy seeing other guys make out with her and dote on her. Takes the pressure off.”
I swat him and he catches my hand, kissing along my knuckles. “Plus, they're my best friends. We make a good group.”
Valerie just shakes her head. “No jealousy? No competition?”
“The competition makes it hotter,” I say before Roman puts his hand over my mouth to say no.
We all tease each other until the door opens and three more men walk in. I stare at them, then look at Gunner, narrowing my eyes. Nick made the introductions at the party, so I know Lief is the one with his hair back in a pony that springs up. Hunter is the one with short hair and saucy smile. This leaves Chase as the guy who looks like he does this every day.
I’m not the only one glaring at Gunner. So is Valerie. He meddled.
“Good to see you again, gorgeous.” Hunter kisses Valerie’s cheek, but she keeps glaring. “How do you like Broadway so far? The theater I mean, not the company.”
She rubs her forehead, then notices Lief. She smirks slightly. “The weather today is better in D.C. I think.”
“The smog levels are much lower and it’s not quite as humid there. I’d agree.”
Hunter gapes at the fact that she’d rather talk to him, but I know my best friend. She loves fun facts, she loves having a conversation, not just being hit on. The lights go down and Valerie gives Gunner the finger as the three guys settle near her.
The play starts and I keep adjusting on Roman’s lap to get a better view until he grabs my hips hard and exhales sharply against my ear. His breath brushes across my skin and I shiver. Then I feel it, what I’ve done to him by accident.
“You are going to destroy me, Bambina.” He purrs.
I lean back and roll my hips once. He bites my throat to soften the groan and then presses his nose to my shoulder. “We have guests.”
“If we didn’t?”
“I wouldn’t be the only one with my hands on you.”
Gunner rubs over my thigh with a smirk. He knows exactly what’s going on. I don’t have a doubt at all. He guides my skirt up and I grab his hand, trying to calm myself down now that I’ve lost all focus on the play.
My eyes flick to Valerie and I see her focusing entirely on the play, along with the other guys. There’s no way we can be quiet enough. I shake my head once and Gunner nods, but still strokes along the inside of my thigh.
I make it to the intermission and then Gunner retreats with a wink and Roman has managed to soften. I let a shaky breath out. As soon as the lights turn on, Chase leans forward to ask Valerie what she thinks about seeing it live.
They talk about the movie and the play. Hunter is frustrated. He rubs down her arm and she stiffens. Oh, he’s doing it all wrong. Completely and totally wrong. She gets up and takes my hand. “Let’s pee.”
When we get to the bathroom, she fixes her makeup and shakes her head. “God, Hunter’s annoying.”
“Gunner’s trying to set you up with them.” I spill.
She plays with her hair. “It’s obvious, Sophie. Hunter pisses me off. Chase is okay, I guess. This is our first time talking. Lief is … quiet. I don’t think it’s a match.”
“No?”
“I don’t think so. Unless the goal is to have me twice as pissed off as normal.” She looks me over and smirks. “But I saw you starting shit.”
“I didn’t mean to!” I insist. “I just wanted a good view and that apparently gets people riled. Imagine that.”
