Well, they better...

In the end, if I have to choose between my grandmother and that omega, well, I choose my grandmother.

She always comes first.

***

I gaze out of the window of my office, my eyes falling on Grandma’s cottage in the distance. There’s smoke puffing from her chimney, and I heave a breath, wondering if my grandfather would be proud of me.

Would he be proud of the man I’ve become?

I’ve overcome a lot, after all. Considering everything that I’ve been through, I could have turned out far worse. I could have been as evil as my asshat of a twin.

I still remember the day as if it were yesterday. Mom and Dad had taken us out for some ice cream, but then our car was gunned down by a gang, changing the course of our lives forever. They killed our parents, then abducted me and my brother and sold us off to the highest bidder.

And then that was how he got his hands on us...

Brady Shaw. The head of ALPHA: a secret organization that raised children to be merciless killing machines.

That was twenty-six years ago.

Grandpa never stopped searching for us, and after six long years, his efforts finally paid off. We were found in a rundown hovel in the end at the age of twelve, and it shocked the entire world. The investigators working on our case had declared us dead several years previous, but our grandparents never stopped believing that we were alive.

We may have been found in the end, but Brady had stolen so much from us. He stole our childhoods. I had already killed a hundred men by the time I was ten, and it seems my killer instincts have never left.

Now I put them to good use and get paid. But I always wonder how different things could have been if we were never kidnapped that day.

Rome may not have turned out so evil.

He may be successful now, but the scars are still there. He’s just good at hiding them.

Unlike me.

I found it hard to integrate back into civilization after everything Brady put us through. But if it weren’t for Brady, I may never have met Sebastian or Isaac. They’re as fucked up as I am, after all. Sebastian has his history with Daphne, and Isaac has his shit with his five elder brothers.

Grandpa did try his best to set me on the straight and narrow, but the damage had already been done.

ALPHA is long gone now. Brady is dead, with all of his followers. Yet the scars he left will never fade.

Footsteps echo down the hall, and it appears my pack has arrived. Isaac and Sebastian step into my office, and I shiver when the latter brings a winter chill with him. He’s still pissed about my warning him earlier about the omega, and I’m only looking out for his best interests. I don’t want to see him hurt. He’s my pack brother, and I care about him.

I care about him more than I do my own twin, and I’m sure Isaac feels the same about his five brothers.

They sit down before my desk, and the three of us don’t speak at first. Isaac shakes his leg while Sebastian stares out the window, and I suppose I may as well just get it over with.

“I’m going to make the omega our new maid. Since we won’t be killing her now after all, we may as well make her useful. I just have one condition. We put a tracker on her. That way, if she goes AWOL, I will receive a notification on my phone.”

Sebastian’s eyes flash, and he doesn’t look too pleased with my proposal. “And what will you do if you do receive a notification?”

I steeple my hands, leaning forward on my desk. “I will see fit to end her life.”

Sebastian digs his fingernails into the arms of the chair, and he’s not happy with my arrangement. His eye does that twitching thing, and he needs to get that checked out.

He has to understand. I’m only looking out for our safety. I’m also worried about my grandmother too. But so long as the omega wears the tracker, then we're safe. It not only alerts me to her location but her hormone levels too. If she gets too excited, then I will shock her. It’s a very efficient strategy, actually.

“Also, after some careful consideration, I have decided to let her assist my grandmother at the cottage.”

Sebastian’s nose flares like a bull, and I knew the news wouldn’t go down well with him. He claims the omega is his. In what manner? Who knows, but I’m getting fed up.
