“He’s so determined to build an empire; he forgets that his life is more than his company.”
“Perhaps for him, it isn’t.”
“He lost one marriage because of it.”
“He was married?”
“Yes. He married his high school sweetheart right out of college, but two years later, she left.” Luke hadn’t had a relationship since.
He didn’t date. If he had lovers, he was discreet about them.
“You worry about him being alone?”
“Not really. That’s Mom and Dad’s job, and they harp on it enough for both of us, but I do worry he’s going to have a heart attack before forty from the stress of his lifestyle.”
“Have you talked to him about it?”
“No. I know he works out, has a personal chef focused on nutrition. I just...”
“Worry. You are a good sister.”
“I love him.” She would not lose another brother.
“Family.”
Jenna smiled. “You sound like yours gives you fits.”
“Can you doubt it?”
“No.” She knew how pushy his father, the former king, could be.
And his brothers were every bit as arrogant as he was. Being the youngest in that crowd could not be easy, but Dima held his own.
A huge bouquet of irises, these purple, were on the sideboard by the table.
Jenna felt moisture well in her eyes, unsure why it touched her so much. “You got me flowers, again.”
“You like flowers.”
“I do. Especially irises this time of year, as you know.”
“Yes.”
“But...”
“What?”
“You keep getting me these really gorgeous bouquets.”
“They are a small symbol of the value I place on your company.”
“You’re a romantic guy, Dima. Who knew?”
“Blame my father. He passed that trait down to all his sons.”
“Even Prince Konstantin?” she asked doubtfully.
“Don’t tell me that Emma has never mentioned it.”
