As I took Roscoe outside, waving to one of my neighbors in the courtyard with her Pomeranian, I chided myself for not seeing this coming. Of course, I fell in love with Bones. He was everything I ever wanted in a man. Thoughtful and reliable. He had a good sense of humor, and he was unbelievably sexy. It was mind-blowing to think I’d almost written him off as a bad boy that wasn’t my type. I had judged a book by its cover and almost missed out on getting to know an amazing man.

As I stepped back into the apartment, Bones was coming out of the bedroom, pulling his shirt over his head. I got a glimpse of his chiselled perfection before the shirt covered him up, and I was shocked to feel lust for him. After last night, I would have thought I would have been more than satisfied for the day at least, but it turned out that Bones was too attractive for that. I could have gone another round right then and there.

Coming over, he pressed a kiss to my lips. “Good morning, beautiful.”

“Good morning,” I said as he sat down in my recliner and started to put on his boots. “Are you leaving?”

“Soon,” he said, and I thought I could hear the regret in his voice. “The club has a meeting today.”

“Do you want breakfast or anything?”

“I would, but I don’t have time if I’m going to go home and shower first.”

I was disappointed, but I understood how important the club was to him, so I wasn’t going to make a big deal out of it. “Maybe we can see each other later?”

“Absolutely,” he said, finishing with his boots. He looked up at me.

The slow way he dragged his eyes up from my toes to my eyes sent a tingle down my spine.

“Come here,” he said, holding out his arms.

I didn’t hesitate to walk over and he pulled me onto his lap.

Brushing my hair out of my eyes, he tugged me in close for a sweet, lingering kiss.

I felt the same swelling of emotion I’d experienced last night and my heart skittered. This felt like more than the casual relationship he said he wanted. Was I crazy for thinking so?

There was only one way to know.

I pulled back for the kiss, looking deep into his piercing blue eyes.

They were so warm…

“I love you,” I said, waiting with bated breath for his response.
