He felt her stiffen for a brief moment and then relax against him.

They all grabbed some bags and headed out of the building. The group of guys off to the side stiffened. Cullen and Rhys ignored them but kept their gazes on them because both men could sense the gang was a threat to them.

Cullen hurried and put the bags in the back seat and Hannah in the front. Then he made sure Rhys and Kiera were in theirs before he followed them out of the neighborhood.

Once they were on the interstate, Cullen grabbed her hand. “We have a lot to talk about, and I have a lot to apologize for.”

“Wait, what do you have to apologize for?”

“The way I acted, not once but twice,” he said.

“I—”

“Stop. How about you lie back and rest? It looks like you both didn’t sleep last night.”

“The people above us wouldn’t stop fighting.”

“Why was she living there?”

“Her dad died, and the bank took her home. Is there any chance we can have someone look into that? She says the bank lied and said it was foreclosed on, but her dad told her it was paid off.”

Oh, fuck yeah, He hated people who took advantage of weaker people like women and children. “Absolutely. I’m betting Rhys will want to help.”

“Why?”

Cullen almost smiled. “Didn’t you notice the attraction between the two of them?”

Hannah’s mouth dropped open. “Really?”

“Yeah.” He smiled.

She bounced in her seat and squealed. “Wouldn’t it be super if she ended up being my sister?”

Cullen chuckled. “How about we let them get in a relationship before asking them to get married?”

Hannah grinned. “I’ll stay out of it.”

He snorted. “Oh, I’m betting you’ll be pushing them together as much as possible.”

Hannah laughed and laid her head back.

“Baby, why don’t you lay the seat back so you’re more comfortable? We’ll stop soon for breakfast.”

Hannah nodded, adjusted the seat, lay down on her side, facing him, and closed her eyes.

He kept his eyes on the road but glanced at her every so often because he loved looking at her. Soon, she’d always be with him, and he’d never have to go a day without her.

Chapter Sixteen

“Baby, wake up.”

Hannah blinked open her eyes to see Cullen leaning over her.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“Nothing. We stopped for breakfast. Are you hungry?”

She nodded and sat up. She couldn’t remember the last time she ate. There was a diner in front of them, attached to what looked like a small barn.
