Natalie blew him a kiss before disappearing into her room. Paula shook her head.
“She’s something, isn’t she?”
“Well, if she hadn’t said anything, I wouldn’t have admitted how I felt.” Michael paused. “Although I can’t be too sure about you.”
“How can you say that after what we’ve done.”
“Well, you didn’t really say anything. I would like to hear it.”
“And feel less insecure?” Paula giggled and ran her fingers through his hair. “Let’s just say the feeling is mutual. Very much so.”
That sounded like music to Michael’s ears. He leaned his forehead against hers.
“If you’re okay with being with a dad to a teenager who’s more than ten years older, I’m game if you are.”
“Oh, I’m game.” Paula smiled. “After what you’ve just admitted to, I don’t think you’ll be able to get rid of me.”
Michael didn’t mind the sound of that at all.
