“I’ve done some deep sea fishing. Caught a three hundred pound tuna once. Not sure if I’ve heard of a magnet fish.”

She snickered. “It’s not a fish.”

“I thought you said fishing,” Charles said.

“I did. Magnet fishing. You use a rope and a magnet.”

Charles shook his head. “Forgive me for living in the city too long, but I never caught a fish with a magnet. Usually use a hook and bait.”

“We’re not out to catch fish.”

“You’ve got me. What is it we’re after then?” Charles had no idea what she was talking about.

“There’s so much junk in the bottom of rivers and lakes that I spend my time doing something good for the environment and try to see what metal I can pull up from the bottom. You should see some of the stuff I’ve dragged in. One time I even snagged a shopping cart.”

He laughed. “You amaze me. I think you should plan all the dates.”

“Wait. What? Why?”

He smiled and said, “Because you come up with the most original ideas.”

She stepped closer to him and whispered, “Your ideas aren’t so bad either. Now could you do me a favor?”

“Anything, sweetheart. What is it?”

“Put a rush on that pizza so we can get out of here,” she said softly.

He looked down at her and knew it wasn’t because her feet were tired or her leg sore. Charles winked. “We’ll be out of here in five. I promise.”

He would’ve walked out and said screw the pizza, but he wasn’t a teenager who couldn’t control his needs. But damn, it wasn’t easy. God, he missed holding her. And knowing what lay ahead of them only made it harder. Literally.
