Page 32 of Always Loved You

“Yes, please.” I put my hand over his. “They are always so hungry. It’s a good thing I own a grocery store.”

“Orchard.” Heath’s eyes go big.

“Did you feel it that time?” I’ve been feeling the girls move for a few weeks now. Heath hasn’t been so lucky. He shakes his head, dropping to his knees in front of me while opening my robe. I run my hands through his hair as he talks to our baby girls, knowing he’s going to be the best father in the world. He is already the best husband in the world. He’s proved that to me over the last months. We may have been married for years before we figured things out, but now we are truly husband and wife.

Some might think we lost time together, but Heath was right. Who knows what my father might have tried to do? He saved me and then gave me time to find myself. I was angry back then. I took some of that anger out on Heath. Not that he hadn’t made a few mistakes along the way too. All of that is in our past and we don’t focus on that. Everything that happened brought us to where we are now. For that I will always be grateful.

All that matters now is we’re together. Both of us finally got what we want and deserve. Each other. And now we are going to build a family together so unlike the ones we grew up in.

Through all of the ups and downs that we’d gone through in our first five years of marriage, I can say without a doubt that Heath always loved me and I always loved him.
