They were one being now, one person. That had to mean something.

The new angle hit different places inside her channel. Her breath came in pants. She’d drown in the shivery sensations—in him. Need slammed into her, demanding her surrender, but she didn’t know how. When she caught Brand’s gaze, a modicum of calm found her within the sea of frantic desire. She took refuge in that dark gray pool, communed with him on a different level than before. Silver flecks danced in his iris and he ceased his movements for the space of a few heartbeats. They stared at each other, locked in a moment beyond time. Something was exchanged between them. Elizabeth felt as if a piece of her soul had been given to him, and it was as natural as breathing.

Then urgency returned and demanded relief, for her body was tight and shaking with need. Brand’s thrusts grew erratic, went deeper until she whimpered, pleaded with him to finish her. Over and over, he drove into her, but the terrible pressure wouldn’t abate. Desperate to fall over that beautiful edge again, she pinched one of her nipples the same time he put a hand between them and found her swollen button.

She was lost.

Elizbeth shattered into a million shards of light as she found release. She screamed, so great was her surprise at the wave upon wave of pleasure that swept her away. As it throbbed between her thighs, he stroked into her again, and with a shout of his own, he spent, followed her into that great chasm without light or sound.

Perhaps it was a rift where one found heaven. That’s how wonderful the act felt.

He collapsed on top of her, and she wrapped her arms around him. Tears of wonder and joy slipped from her eyes to stream down her cheeks and pool in her ears. She reveled in the rasp of his labored breathing as it blended with hers.

If this was a sin, it was worth every bit of the fall. “I rather think I’ve enjoyed being ruined.” Then she buried her face into his chest and let the residual bliss have at her.
