Chapter 3 - Danny: Flooded Thoughts

I was sitting in the kitchen going through some emails for work when Maddison waddled in. She had her hand on her growing belly, and she looked thoroughly annoyed.

“Rough night?” I said in amusement to my sister-in-law.

“The stupid baby decides it’s the perfect time to be lively at two in the fucking morning. They didn’t go back to bed till five. Then Marcus was just over there breathing and asleep. Stupid man. Why must we women do the baby growing?”

That was a rhetorical question that I was sure she didn’t want to know the answer to.

Maddy came and sat beside me, flipping her blonde locks over her shoulder. Even feeling her worst the woman still looked like she was runway ready. She had the kind of beauty many women paid and yearned for

“But pregnancy suits you. You are glowing in the best way possible.”

She shook her head. “No, that’s my sex glow. Ever since becoming pregnant, I have been insatiable when it comes to sex. My libido is through the roof. I’m not complaining or anything but…damn.”

“Can’t relate.” I shrugged. “Some of our baby daddies made a run for it, so we couldn’t be serviced properly.”

“Out of curiosity, when was the last time you got serviced?” She picked up one of the apples that stayed in the fruit bowl in the center of the island.

“Why?”

“Just tell me.”

“Like properly serviced or self-serviced?”

“Properly serviced.” She took a bite of her apple.

I thought about that for a moment. “Two-and-a-half years ago.”

Maddison choked on the piece of apple she had just but off. I patted her back frantically trying to help her. She swatted my hand away.

“Two years?!” She exclaimed. “How are you alive? No wonder you are so uptight all the time. You have cobwebs up in that vagina of yours. It needs some dusting.”

I gasped. “I do not have cobwebs. Thank. You. Very. Much.”

One thing about Maddy—I would never get used to her mouth. She had no filter, and I loved it. I knew she kept my brother on his toes. Truthfully, she kept everyone on their toes.

To anyone who didn’t know her, she was cold and rough but, to those she knew and loved, we all knew she was just a big softie at heart. She could still kill you if need be, but I could also tell that my brother and this pregnancy had softened her a great deal.

“So are you ever going to tell me what happened between you and Gavin or am I just going to have to keep guessing? Because my mind is coming up with all sorts of scenarios right now.”

I blushed. “Nothing happened between us.”

“Do you want something to happen between the two of you?”

It took me a second too long to respond, so she took my silence as a yes.

“I knew it!” She squealed, “Marcus owes me twenty bucks.”

I gasped. “You bet on this? Why?”

“Cause I’m pregnant and bored doing nothing at home all day while my husband works 24-hour shifts. I need entertainment. Sue me.”

I rolled my eyes. “Well, nothing happened between us.”

“But you wish it did.”

“I never said that.”
