I grabbed my suitcase and made my way downstairs. As I descended the stairs, I noticed another suitcase pushed up against the wall.

Was Ethan going somewhere?

When I got to the ground floor I rounded the corner to the kitchen to look for Ethan, but I was stunned to see Grayson instead of Ethan.

“Grayson?” I looked at his attire and he looked like he was going somewhere.

He turned around and his face split into a brilliant smile.

“What are you doing here?”

“I’m coming with you.”

My heart thudded hard in my chest.

“What?”

“I spent years away from you all because I was stupid. You came back to me again and then I almost lost you again out of stupidity. One thing these past years have taught me is that there is no one like you on this earth for me, Jade.”

He moved towards me, holding eye contact.

“You were right, home is not a place. Home for me is wherever you are, and if you are not here, then this isn’t my home anymore. My heart belongs to you, my soul belongs to you, and my entire being belongs to you. I love you with all I have in me. I am yours, Jade Elizabeth Masters, if you will have me.”

I was fighting back tears.

“You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting to hear you say that.” I launched myself into his arms, and he caught me easily. He twirled me around in elation, and our lips came together to seal it all with a kiss.

When he set me down, I stared into his eyes. “I love you with all my heart, Grayson, but you aren’t leaving Riverroad. This is your home.”

He was about to open his mouth to protest, but I beat him to it.

“It’s our home.” I circled my arms around his neck. “I spent the better part of the last few years running from this place, and I’m done running now. New York will always be special to me, but this place is my home because you are here. I choose you, Gray.”

“But what about your dream of being a lawyer?”

“I can be one here, can’t I?”

“Are you sure?”

“I have never been more sure about anything in my entire life. I love you, Grayson Stone, and I want a life with you.”

“I love you, Jade Elizabeth, more than you will ever know.”

There were still so many unknowns here in Riverroad. My relationship with Ethan was still strained. His practice was still at risk and so many other things were all up in the air. But one thing was a constant, and that was Grayson Stone.

I knew, as long as we kept choosing each other at every hurdle and obstacle, we would make it out alive. Because we had rewritten our stars, and our story had found its happy ending.
