“Are you sure? I don’t want to put anyone out by taking a room.”
I decide not to tell her that I don’t think she will be sleeping in a room alone, “The clubhouse has plenty of rooms, you won’t be putting anyone out.”
Raven gives me a look. I know she saw the look that the guys share, and if the slight shake in Pyro’s shoulders is what I think it is, the guys didn’t miss it either.
“That doesn’t sound like a bad plan, much better than staying at the house alone. All of the other sisters that aren’t going to the beach are going home or with significant others somewhere else. I was just going to read and binge-watch Netflix.”
“Well, then it’s decided. You are coming to meet the Ghost Riders.” When I had said clubhouse earlier, she didn’t appear to think too much about it but after I said she was meeting the Ghost Riders her eyes got big and it finally sinks in. She just agreed to spend a week at the center of the country’s most dangerous MC.
This is going to be a fucking blast.
“So, what did that paperwork say?” Raven asks after a beat of silence.
“It was the police report of the latest victim. She was at the library studying, and she remembers using the app to order coffee, so when a man showed up with coffee, she thought it was the one she ordered. That’s the last thing she remembers before waking up at the hospital. She was able to give a brief description of the guy, but it didn’t match the description of the guy that was delivering coffee that night. When the police checked him out, he told them that he went to drop the coffee off and the person was gone. They even paged the whole library for her, and no one came to answer. His boss said that he showed back up with the coffee that he left with and wasn’t gone that long. It doesn’t seem possible for it to be him. This leaves us almost back at square one,” Scar gives the information like a robot and I know that it’s because he is trying to keep his temper under control.
“Almost?” Zoe asks in between bites.
“Yes, well we know that Travis is the one dealing the drugs. We have followed him a few times to see who he meets with, but the list is so long that I don’t think we will be able to make anything of it.”
“Travis?” Zoe squeaks, I hadn’t mentioned to them how the drugs were getting on campus yet.
“I can’t believe that Travis would have a hand in this,” Raven shakes her head and looks at her hands in her lap. It doesn’t take me long to figure out why she is reacting the way that she is. She and Travis have a regular entanglement.
It started several weeks after we rushed, and when either one of them is bored or just wants to get laid, they call the other. If it turns out that he did have something to do with this, well Raven might have some issues to work through.
“We are going to figure it out. There are too many people looking for these guys for them to not get caught!” Pyro is pissed, it’s clear in the way that he is holding his mouth and how bunched his shoulders are.
I know that all the guys are struggling with this, but I think the five sitting at this table are bearing the weight a little bit more, for obvious reasons.

“Bitch. How many outfits do you need for one week in a small town?” I taunt Zoe from her bedroom door, the house is empty but out of habit I don’t mention the MC.
“I might have gone overboard but I wanted to have options. I am not sure what to expect…” For the second time since we made these plans, I can see how nervous she is. The question is, is she worried about where she will be or spending a week with her guys? I could mention that no one in the club would dare to mess with someone that shows up with me, but that might not be completely true. None of the club members would bother her but the hang-arounds don’t listen to anyone, let alone me.
“Did you pack lingerie?”
“All of my best ones,” she winks at me while she tries to zip her suitcase closed, it's more than a little tight but she eventually gets it. “Is your bag already in the car?”
I shake my head and pick her bag up off her bed, “I’m not bringing one, all of my clothes from before I came here are still in my closet, I wouldn’t dream of wearing pastels and dresses around the club.”
She jerks to a stop and turns to look at me, “What is wrong with pastels and dresses?”
I know that those are the things that she is used to wearing, and more than likely she packed most of her cool summer dresses, so I pick my words carefully.
“Nothing is wrong with them, but I have a reputation at the clubhouse and honestly the girly stuff isn’t for me. I have gotten used to it around here, but I am happy to be wearing my clothes for a week.” I guess my answer calmed her down because she starts walking again.
“Well, I guess those men are going to get sunshine and rainbow for the week because I like my clothes and I won’t be changing them for that. I might slip into something darker once or twice but even if I am dating men that prefer black and leather, I am still keeping my bright side.”
“I wouldn’t have you any other way, Zoe.” I throw her bag into the trunk and kiss her on the cheek as she drops in the smaller bag that she had draped over her shoulder.
Most of the drive to the club is spent with the music up loud and us yelling along with it but as soon as we pass the city limit sign Zoe turns the music down and shifts her body to look at me.
“What’s on your mind?” I ask when she doesn’t say anything right away.
“Is there anything I should know before we get there?” There is that worry again.
