She laughs and leans into me, Tanner has moved around our group trying to find an opening for me, but Allison is doing her part at keeping him firmly away from me. “I am guilty of falling into his bed once. Freshman year. It wasn't terrible but it could have been better. The problem with you is everyone loves a redhead, and you are fucking hot. I know several men that would grovel at your feet for you to show them a little attention!”
I have a feeling that a lot of these men have grown to believe that I am an innocent girl from a little town that is out of her league in the big city of San Antonio. The fact that I haven't dated or slept with anyone since being here plays into that.
“I don't like needy men. Or guys my age, these boys will get over it.” I see that she is about to ask about the age comment, but my phone starts to go nuts in my pocket. When I pull it out the name of the group chat with the guys is flashing on my screen.
“Shit.” I push my way out of the room and into the first corner that I can find, pushing my back against the wall and unlocking my phone.
A picture of me from a few minutes ago, Tanner at my back, is what sparked the whole thing.
“What did I tell you about his arm?”
“Who the hell is this fucker?”
“He might need his face rearranged.”
“I might kill him.”
“I will kill him.”
“Finley!”
“Damnit, woman!”
As soon as I start to type out a reply their bombarding stops. I am sure that they are all looking at the three little dots that tell them what I am doing. I type and erase, and type and erase a few times before I give up and decide to switch tactics. I put my phone back in my pocket and make a beeline right to Raven–who has been joined by Zoe–on the edge of the room.
“I have to take off,” I tell them. Raven immediately smiles, she knows that it has something to do with the ex that I mentioned earlier.
“What?! You can't leave!” Zoe is a little drunk, the face she makes at the idea of me taking off is so cute that I laugh.
“I will be back before morning, but I have something that I have to take care of.”
“Do you need my keys? Your car is across campus in the parking lot!” Raven's car is here at the house because of the party supplies but I keep mine over in the big parking lot just to save space for the sisters that use theirs more often.
“No. I got it taken care of!” I kiss them both on the cheek and go to the bar.
“Listen. I liked both of you but now I am kind of pissed. I don’t care who did it or why but now you are going to give me your keys and tell me where they are.” I put my hand out and they exchanged a look, “Don't argue with me or I will make your life a living hell. I know they are your officers, but you better not forget who I am!”
Hollow pulls keys from his back pocket, “Haven apartment building, apartment 223.”
My growl isn't audible over the sound of the music, but it vibrates me to my toes. These mother fuckers have been right off campus all this time! Haven apartments are close enough to walk and I didn't even know they were here! Top and Hollow pull away from me and I can only guess it's because I look mad enough to kill a man.
The security guard at the front door stops me with his hand when he sees the keys I am holding, “Miss, how much have you had to drink?”
“Three since the beginning of the party. My stomach is a little warm, but I am sober. I’ll take a breathalyzer if you feel like it is necessary.” I make sure to keep his eyes and keep my voice level and firm. It's not hard to get men to do what you want when you don't act like a scared child in their presents.
“You don't need to do that ma’am. Are you coming back tonight?”
“I am, I live here but I will be back in a few hours. The party will most likely be over. The bartender will still be here but only because I am taking their car,” I laugh at his reaction and make my way to the car that lights up when I hit the button on the keys.
I’m glad they aren't far, if they were staying any farther away, I have no idea how mad I would be when I got there. I am so pissed right now that my hands are starting to shake, and my heart is beating so fast that my skin is starting to get hot.
Finding the right building inside the apartment complex takes longer than it did to get here and as soon as I park the car, I dig through the glove box and center console to find the pack of smokes that I know is tucked into the car somewhere. I lean against the driver's door after lighting it and dropping the pack and the lighter in the driver's seat.
“Princess,” I groan loudly when Scar's voice wraps around me, assaulting me from head to toe.
“How are you out here?”
“I plead the fifth.” He lights his smoke and props himself up next to me.
