As I sent off my reply, my belly starts to feel funky. Must be the nerves.
–Griffin: My brothers want to meet you. Not all of them can come, but at least four will be there.
I stare at the text, trying to figure out priorities. I want to talk to Griffin about the babies, but meeting his brothers is important, too. They’re going to be the triplets’ uncles.
It probably wasn’t easy to have four of his brothers to meet. Given how Griffin is, his brothers are probably busy men.
–Me: Okay. Where exactly are we meeting?
–Griffin: Manny’s Tacos. The original one.
–Me: I have a late afternoon meeting, but I’ll drive to the restaurant straight from work. Should be there between 7 and 7:30.
–Griffin: That’s fine. The reservation’s under my brother’s name. Noah Lasker.
I send him a smiling emoji.
The dinner invitation ups my optimism. If he weren’t thinking about a future together, he wouldn’t invite me to meet his brothers.
Being with Griffin isn’t just about giving me these babies, I realize with a wave of happiness. He’s giving me a big family I can belong to, with his amazing brothers and his amazing mom and undoubtedly amazing dad.
