With that, he leads her away and into a car I know isn't his. For one, it's worth way too much money. Chances are he probably stole it.

He opens the passenger door like some kind of gentleman he's not, and she climbs inside. As he walks around to get in the driver's side, he smirks and winks at me.

I swear to fuck, I'm going to kill him.

FOR THE FOURTH NIGHT in a row, I sleep like total shit. Only this time, it's not because thoughts of a half-naked Amelia are running through my head. Instead, it's filled with thoughts of her in danger. Blade getting

her high. Blade pressing his knife into her neck like he's done to me and so many others on numerous occasions. The possibilities of what he has in store for her are fucking endless, and none of them are good.

As soon as the sun comes up, I grab my phone from the nightstand and throw my shoes on. Just before I walk out the door, I hurriedly type out a text and press send.

Zayn: The place. Ten minutes.

PULLING UP TO THE abandoned house, I'm half expecting to find Amelia here with Blade, but thankfully, he came alone. It's probably only because it's ass o'clock in the morning, but regardless of the reasoning, I'm glad she's not here. It means she's safe.

I climb out of the car and storm right up to Blade, using every ounce of restraint I have not to punch him in the face.

"What the fuck is your problem?" I seethe. "Leave Amelia out of this. It doesn't concern her."

He chuckles, as if he's not even the slightest bit afraid of me. "There you go again, getting a little too comfortable."

"Comfortable?" I scoff. "What the fuck do you want from me? I sell your shitty-ass drugs. I go to your shitty-ass parties. I run your shitty-ass errands. What the fuck else do you want?"

He walks over to my car and hops up onto the hood. "Zaynie, Zaynie, Zaynie. Your attitude is becoming a bit of a problem."

"I'll show you a problem."

My clenched fist raises, but before I can hit him, he raises a finger. “I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Three guys walk out of the house, and two step out of the woods across the street.

"And don't worry," he continues. "I've got one looking after your precious little Amelia."

I'm stunned into silence as I realize she's not safe. Not even a little. Hell, she probably hasn't been since the second she came around me.

Blade hops off my car and takes a step toward me. He pulls a small baggie from his pocket and slips it into mine, smiling like a narcissistic maniac the whole time.

"Aw, don't look so scared," he teases. "I won't hurt her...as long as you behave."

He raises his brows with an arrogant grin and then nods to his guys. All of them follow Blade like faithful little pit bulls, ready to do whatever he says.

And me? I just stand here wondering how the fuck I'm going to get Amelia out of this.

Hot water flows down across my skin, easing all the tension I've been feeling just slightly. I make quick work of washing my hair. Having co-ed washrooms means that this place won’t stay empty for long. It's why I wake up so early in the morning. Otherwise, I'd always be late for class.

Getting out of the shower, I wrap a towel around my body and use another to somewhat dry my hair. The rest I can do in my dorm, but I don't want to all the way down the hall. Once I grab my things, I head back to my room.

My eyes stay focused on the floor, still trying to wake up enough to get ready and go to class. I really should have thought it through before I stayed out until two a.m. Zombified doesn't even begin to explain how I feel right now.

The second I lift my head, my stomach drops. Zayn is pacing outside my door. His hands are pulling at his hair, and he keeps looking around and checking his phone. When his gaze meets mine, it's almost as if he looks relieved.

“Amelia,” he sighs.

I shake my head. “Sorry, Zayn. I don't have time right now.”

As if he didn't realize before, he notices that I'm only in a towel and he swallows harshly. “I only need a second.”

The other day, Kennedy told me about how he showed up here looking for me. She said it was clear on his face what he was there for, and that she told him he's too late. Over the time that's passed between then and now, I've wondered what would have happened if I was home when he showed up. If I hadn't run into Blade. If I hadn't accepted when he asked to take me out that night. But Kennedy is right. For my own heart's protection, I can't keep fawning over someone who doesn't want to be with me. Still, that doesn't mean I can't hear him out.
