“I've known him since we were in diapers. An intervention would just piss him off.” He stops for a minute and then sighs. “I really didn't want it to come to this, but I've got no choice. I need to call in back-up.”
“His parents?”
He chuckles. “No, they would just baby him and send him to some fancy rehab that wouldn't actually work.”
I rack my mind to think of who else he could possibly be referring to, but I was never really close to Jace so I come up empty. “Who then?”
He takes a deep breath. “A blast from the past who meant a little more to Jace than he let on.”
