“So, what are you majoring in?” the guy asks.

He's not the worst looking. If I wasn't so drunk, my opinion might be different, but he's got some nice qualities to him. He just looks a little too preppy for me. For some reason, I'm drawn to the bad boys.

I take another sip of my drink before answering. “Pre-law.”

His eyes widen. “Damn. You don't play around, huh?”

“Nope.”

He reaches out and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. “I like my girls smart.”

A blush coats my cheeks. “You do?”

“Oh, fuck no.” Easton comes out of nowhere and forces himself between us. “Not happening, Amelia.”

As he pulls me away, I giggle and wave goodbye to my new friend. Leave it to protective big brother to embarrass me at my first college party. Honestly, I should’ve found another one to come to, but everyone knows Easton and Zayn host the best parties to be at.

“Stay away from him,” he demands.

I scoff and cross my arms over my chest in a way that I'm sure could have been a lot more coordinated. “You can't control my life, Easton.”

He doesn't even flinch, not finding me even slightly intimidating. “Want to bet? Come on. Don't act like I just fucked shit up for you. You probably don't even know his name.”

“It's Todd,” I snap back.

Zayn chuckles, and I didn't even realize he was standing there until now. “It's Mason.”

Okay, I wasn't even close. My eyes rake over Zayn’s body, taking in the band tee and ripped black jeans he's wearing. The tattoos contrast against the pale color of his skin, and for a minute, I imagine what it would be like to kiss him with that lip ring in. Or to kiss him at all.

“See?” Easton interrupts my moment. “Cheer up. I'll let you date eventually.”

“You will?”

He shrugs. “When you're forty-five. If you're lucky.”

I huff indignantly. “Mom and Dad should have had all girls.”

His head falls back as he laughs. “Now what fun would that be?”

Kennedy comes over, looking like she's about to be sick. While I've had a lot to drink, she's had more. Her panicked eyes meet Easton's, and she covers her mouth with her hand.

“Bathroom.”

Easton grumbles something under his breath that sounds a lot like fucking freshman. “This way, come on.”

As they're walking away, Kennedy glances back and winks at me. Sneaky little bitch. She did that to get Easton away and leave me alone with Zayn.

A part of me considers walking away. We're doing nothing but standing here in awkward silence, and yet I can't get my feet to move. It's like the need to be close to him overpowers the anxiety in me screaming to run away.

“Your brother's right, you know?” he says, breaking the silence. “You should stay away from Mason. He's not someone you want to get wrapped up in.”

Oh, trust me. I have no intentions of getting wrapped up in anyone but you. “He didn't seem too bad.”

He snorts. “Because you're drunk, and he wants in your pants.”

My eyes widen, and I reach forward and put my hand over his mouth. “Shh! If Easton hears you, he's going to put a chastity belt on me and lock me in a dungeon in your basement.”
