Page 9 of Tracking Her Down

My cheeks heat and I palm them to get them to cool off and she laughingly walks away. Trent’s kisses are explosive, but I suspect that if I slept with him then that would be...cataclysmic.

I’d probably never be the same again. I bite my lip. Maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad thing?

I wipe some grease off the counter, inwardly rolling my eyes when a couple of customers glare at my cleavage jiggling. I’ve never cared before but suddenly I want Trent to come around and gouge their eyes. I’m tempted to stick my tongue out at them, but then I’ll probably just get fired.

The song from the stereo changes into an old blues remix and I move a little in rhythm with the music as I grab a couple of tall glasses and some beers. That’s what they all drink around here. Beer, beer, beer.

Back in my hometown they would all just go for the moonshine. I’m actually not even allowed to work here, but I lied to my boss and told him I was twenty-one and he needed to hire some girls so he just went along with it.

If the cops ever come around, then he’ll be in trouble. So will I. But the thing is that I’ve never been much for laws and rules. Sometimes I can feel my spirit clawing at me, like it wants to get out. It’s not much for laws and rules either.

Walking out with my tray of beers, I shoot the customers a big smile and put some swish in my steps because that’s what my boss has told us to do. Reaching my table, I start serving the customers. I think they’re flirting me or maybe they’re just trying to be polite, not sure.

I answer them and as usual I’ve probably said the wrong thing because they look at each other in confusion and I sigh. Oh well...

When the door to the bar opens, letting in a stream of the last of the sun I automatically glance up, only to inhale for air. It’s him. He’s here.

Trent.

And if possible he looks even better without his uniform, dressed in pale, ripped jeans and a charcoal t-shirt with cutoff arms that shows off his muscularity. His hair is pulled up in a bun, tendrils falling in his face. He’s so manly and sure of himself that everyone in the bar suddenly seem smaller.

He’s not showy, doesn’t draw attention to himself but he still manages to take over the energy in a space anyway.

I plaster a smile on my face, waiting for him to look up but he doesn’t. Instead he seems dedicated to keep his gaze down and I wonder why. I watch as he and a couple of other guys, the ones I saw at the fire area, walk over to sit in a booth.

They too probably want something to drink and I make my way over to them when the older guy who’s name I think is Lance, notices me and his face drops and he slaps Trent on his bicep.

Trent looks up and I stop in my tracks at the glare in his eyes. Fury. Pure, raging, crazy fury.

Whimpering, I’m not sure why he’s looking at me like that.

But maybe it has something to do with me not wearing a top.

Trent

They wanted to go to the newly opened titty bar. Since I’d bailed on them earlier, I couldn’t say no and now they’re all howling with excitement. Except me.

Feels like I’ve been walking in a damn blur ever since I left Raye. She kissed me like she was trying to get to my throat with her tongue which is exactly how I want to be kissed by her, but then she slipped out of my arms and closed the door right in front of my nose.

I told her I’m not done with her and I’m not. Tomorrow, I’ll come back again. Until she caves in and accepts me. And she better, after the little stunt she pulled a couple of months ago.

She doesn’t know that I know and I’ve decided to keep it like that for now...

Chairman’s Cove is a pretty town but this area aint that nice. There’s even a neon sign on the roof of the bar, making it look even skankier but what the hell, I’m doing this for the boys. As we walk inside I keep my gaze down, not feeling like looking at other women’s tits when I can’t stop imagining what Raye’s look like.

Probably juicy, ripe perfection just like the rest of her. The bar smells of beer, cheap cologne and body sprays and there’s a ton of glass on the floor. Doesn’t anyone clean around here? I brush my neck in annoyance, following Bill as he sits in a booth and both he and Lance are ogling the women openly. I’m about to pull out my phone when Lance smacks me on my arm.

“Look, isn’t that the girl from earlier today?”

I freeze at his words, even before I look up but then my eyes zoom in on hers. That’s my sunray but she doesn’t look innocent anymore. Her bottom is covered but the top...The top is bare, her little titties proudly poking in the air like they’re trying to spite me.

That fucking, little brat!

Roaring on the inside, I grab Lance’s and Bills necks and shove their heads under their table before I get up on the seat and jump over the table to get to her quicker and she doesn’t even have time to gasp before I attack her, ripping off my own shirt and cover her chest with it.

The whole bar is staring, Raye is vaguely protesting as I’m dragging her away from eyes that I don’t fucking want watching her.
