I’m confused. “How I’m doing?”

“You didn’t believe I want all the deets of your lovemaking, did you?” Her lip curls. “No, thanks.”

Phoebe raises her hand. “I’m okay with details.” I raise an eyebrow at her. “What? I’ll have you know I’m not a complete prude.”

She sure had me fooled. “Whatever.”

Hailey reaches across the table to grasp my hand. “Are you okay? Are you and Grayson okay?”

I look away and my gaze falls upon Grayson who is looking my way. He raises an eyebrow in question. He may have left but he didn’t abandon me. Knowing he has my back warms my insides. “I’m okay.”

Hailey releases my hand and uses her finger to circle my face. “Judging by the look on your face, you are doing more than okay.”

I shrug. I can’t deny it. I’m sure my face went all soft and smooshy when I looked at Grayson. I can’t help it. The man makes me melt.

The door to the pub crashes open and a teenage boy steps in. “Where is he?”

Hailey stands and walks over to the boy. I rush after her. This is going to be good. Phoebe is hot on my heels.

“Can I help you?” Hailey asks.

The boy glares at her. “Are you the owner who hurt my mom?”

“Your mom? Who is your mom?”

“Faith.”

My eyes widen. Faith as in the new cleaner, Faith?

Pops walks over. “Can I help you, son?”

“Son?” He spits out. “I am not your son.”

Clearly. No child of Pops would be this rude.

Faith rushes in and grips her son’s shoulder. “Oliver Benjamin Bakker, what are you doing here?”

“Oh, someone got the middle name treatment. Someone’s in trouble,” I sing.

Oliver turns his glare on me. “Who the fuck are you?”

Before I can blink, Grayson is looming over the boy. “Is that how you talk to a lady?”

“N-n-n-no, sir?”

“You do not speak to a lady in that way,” he schools him. Huh. Would you look at that? I’m a lady now.

“And,” Faith pushes her way in between Grayson and her son, “we do not use such language in our household.”

The teenager rolls his eyes. “Whatever, ma.”

“What’s going on, darling?” Pops asks Faith.

“That!” Oliver points at Pops. “That right there is going on. You do not call an employee darling.”

“Maybe we should take this conversation somewhere private,” Hailey suggests. She gestures toward the back hall where the office is located.

Faith looks around as if she only now realizes she’s standing in the entryway of a popular bar on a Saturday night. Her eyes widen before she seizes her son’s hand and marches him to the hallway. When Hailey goes to follow, Pops stops her.
