“I… I’ll check,” Toni said. She went back behind the fish tank that formed her counter, typing something into the computer that sat there. She turned the screen to face the two of them. “There, this is everything I have on the transaction. The card details are anonymized for security, but the name is there, and the address.”

Paige felt a surge of hope. A name and address? It was more than she could have imagined when they came here.

“If we run that…” Paige began, but Christopher was already shaking his head.

“The name is a fake,” Christopher said. “John Maskelyne was a Victorian magician known for inventing a version of the levitation trick magicians use today.”

The name wasn’t the important part, though. The part that mattered was the address. The killer would have had to take receipt of the tank somewhere before he moved it on to the community performance space. Maybe his home, maybe a workshop that he used for his props. If they were lucky, he would be there now, and even if he wasn’t, then there would still probably be more than enough evidence there to work out exactly who they were dealing with.

“Call Sanchez,” Christopher said. “Have her send some backup to that address. A guy like this could be dangerous on his own ground.”

Paige nodded getting out her phone as she and Christopher headed for the exit. There wasn’t any time to lose. They needed to get to the address they’d gotten out of the store owner, and track down the killer before he had a chance to strike again.
