I want to throw my hands in the air, punch him in the face and say, look asshole it already does, but I don’t. Instead, I cross my arms over my chest and avert my gaze away from him. I love, Luke, I do, but not that much.

“It already includes me. You brought me into this the night you showed up at my apartment and if you aren’t going to change, if you won’t let this go, then you should at least let me go. I can’t be with you if you keep doing this.”

“You say that, but you don’t mean it,” Luke says as if he’s bored, but the way he’s gripping the steering wheel like it’s one of his enemies throats proves he’s anything but bored over this conversation. “We belong together, and I’m going to prove it to you.”

We pull up to the hotel shortly after. It’s some fancy five-star looking hotel, but I couldn’t care less. He must have already checked in on the phone or something because when we get to the desk in the lobby all Luke does is tell the guy his name and he hands him a set of key cards. I feel severely under dressed in comparison to the other patrons walking around the lobby.

Luke takes my hand and leads me to the elevator. I’m too tired to fight him, so I let him hold my hand. Inside the elevator, I have to fight the need to lean against him. If this pesky period would go away, I could get back to my not so emotional ways. Luckily the elevator door pings open before I can give in.

I expect to find another hallway behind the open door, instead, it leads straight into the penthouse. I step in hesitantly, but when I feel Luke’s hands on my lower back, guiding me into the huge open space, I’m oddly reassured. Even as dangerous as he is, I know he would never allow anything bad to happen to me.

Slowly he leads me through the lavishly decorated hotel suite, while I try not to gawk at everything in sight. This room looks like the one from the movie The Hangover before it was destroyed. When we make it to the bedroom, I notice something lying on the bed, but I don’t realize what it is until we get a little closer.

I nearly gasp when I see it. An electric heating pad, one you plug into the wall and beside it a neatly stacked pile of single-use, stick-on heating pads.

“I had them get it and bring it up when they got the room ready,” Luke says, without me even asking. God, everyday it gets harder and harder to push him away. Why does he have to be so damn caring? “Do you want me to run you a bath?”

Great, this just keeps getting better.

“Sure.” I’m so weak, so damn weak. What I should really be saying is no. Sitting down on the edge of the plush king-size bed I slip my shoes off, while Luke disappears into the bathroom. The sound of running water fills the room as I strip out of my clothes. I’m completely naked when Luke returns. He stops a few feet away from me as if he is scared to get any closer. His caring demeanor takes a turn, and all that remains in his eyes now is heated lust.

“Don’t even think about it,” I scold.

“It’s too late. I’m already thinking about it,” he responds, smirking. “But don’t worry, I get it. I will behave myself.”

I roll my eyes because the day I see him behave himself is the day I die. Walking past him, I enter the bathroom, which is just as fancy as the rest of this place. The whole room is filled with a fresh flowery scent, lavender, I think.

Most likely, some super expensive bubble bath, imported from the Amazon. I cringe. I don’t even want to know what it costs to stay here for a night. The huge garden tub is only half-filled with water, but bubbles are threatening to slosh over the edge on one side.

Holding onto the side of the tub, I slowly step into the perfect temperature water and ease my body down into the bubbly goodness. I don’t realize a moan has slipped from me until the sound has passed my lips.

“I see you’re enjoying this as much as I had hoped you would,” Luke exclaims. When I look up from the bubbles, I find he is standing in the doorway, arms crossed, looking down at me like I’m a juicy steak and he just spent ten days in the wilderness without a morsel of food.

Not happening!

“Stop looking at me like that,” I snap, frowning.

Luke lifts a thick brow. “Like what? Like I love you? Like I want to devour you from the inside out, enjoying you bite by bite?”
