“Your idea of a great date is dinner and a long walk on the beach.” Barbara read. “You sure you want to say that when there aren’t many beaches around here?”

“Hmmm,” Sara took the device back, editing that answer. “How about dinner and a long walk through the park?” She adjusted her answer to suit the geographic area.

“And you left that one blank,” Barbara said, pointing to ‘What’s the first thing you notice about a guy? His arms, his ass, his package?’

“I forgot to put anything there. I was just so shocked that there are women who actually check out a guy’s … you know … right off the bat.” Sara laughed, typing ‘eyes’ for her answer.

“Nice,” Barbara replied. “It’s not what I would pick, but eyes is a good answer.”

“Does that mean you’re a package lady then?”

“Arms.” Barbara didn’t even bother looking up from the device.

“Why arms?” Sara asked.

“Because big strong arms are great for holding you down and …”

They dissolved into giggles again.

“And what about shifters? Would you date a shifter?” Barbara asked.

“Would that even work?” Sara looked at Barbara inquisitively. “I mean … don’t shifters only want to date other shifters?”

“Some, but not all. Particularly those at our age, who aren’t thinking about the need to make shifter babies.” Barbara said.

“Well, then yeah. I mean, I don’t personally have an issue with a shifter. I just figured they wouldn’t want to date a witch. Wait, is there a box for that question?”

“No. I was just curious to see what you would say.” Barbara chuckled. “Now, about this photo. Is it your professional headshot?”

“Yeah, it is.” Sara blushed. “I like it, but I guess it’s a little formal for a dating site. I should probably take new photos.”

“Let’s do it!”

“What, now?”

Barbara nodded. “You look gorgeous right now, so why not?”

Sara considered. “My apprentice did glam me up tonight. It might be dumb to waste it. But I’m not good at …”

Barbara didn’t give her a chance to finish. She took the tablet, put it in camera mode, and coached Sara through a photo session. After another glass of wine, they finally ended up in a profile pic they were both quite proud of.

“Send that to me,” Barbara instructed. “I have many eligible people I know who I could show it to.”

Sara hesitated.

Barbara tilted her head to the side. “What, you don’t trust me to show your pic to nice men I think might be a good match for you?”

“I just never had someone setting me up on dates before. I feel like I’m being a burden.”

“Love is never a burden,” Barbara emphasized. “Nothing makes me happier than helping two people find each other.”

“Okay …” Sara hardly thought that was likely, but she took Barbara’s phone number and texted the photo to her anyway.

As they were talking, another notification came in, chiming and then briefly showing a photo of the man who was interested in her profile.

“Oh, this one is kinda’ cute.”

That sparked Sara’s interest. “Let me see.”
