“You want to talk to me about breaking up with my ex-boyfriend?” I tilt my head and turn my body towards him, keeping my shoulder pressed against the wall.

“Yeah, well, kind of. I mean… I know that this is hurting you as well, so I want to talk to you about your feelings.” He stands close in front of me with his shoulder pressed against the wall.

“My feelings?” I question because Ian has never been concerned with the way anything made me feel.

“Yeah,” he laughs out, “look, I know you had some sort of feelings for him, and I know you feel like he got hurt. Which I’m sure he did. I want to talk about how all this has made you feel.” He brushes my cheek with his fingers.

“Okay… then let’s do this. We’ll talk about how this has made me feel.” I breathe out, “I hate the fact that I cheated on Darren. I wish I could have done a better job controlling my urges. No one deserves to be cheated on and feel the pain of betrayal. I’ll never forgive myself for hurting him like that. But you and I both know the truth… I was not meant for him, and he was not meant for me. As hard as I tried, I just couldn’t fully give myself to him.” I shake my head. I hate admitting this to Ian, because down deep inside I’m afraid he’ll use this against me… to cheat on me again.

“Because the Moon Goddess made us for each other. I wish I would have learned this sooner. I lost so much time with you. We should have been married in a media circus by now, with at least one pup.” He smiles and rubs his thumb on my bottom lip.

“Can you imagine… us with a pup?” I laugh.

“Every day, I can’t wait until you let me put a pup in here.” He rubs the palm of this hand on my belly. “I think about your swollen belly with my pup growing inside every day. It’s the only thing that has gotten me through the past two years without you. That and standing by the jasmine vines by the packhouse… they remind me of the way you smell, sweet and floral.” I look down at his hand on my belly and place my hand on top of his, then look back into his eyes. Looking deep into his eyes, all I see is sincerity and truth, and for the second time today, I see a future with him. “Wow, you’re wearing it. After all this time.” He looks at my neck and rubs his fingers on the necklace he gave me for my eighteenth birthday.

“Yeah, and it still fits,” I giggle.

“Thank you for giving me the chance that I don’t deserve.” He wraps his hand around my neck and pulls me in for a kiss. And for the first time, I don’t fight the mate bond and wrap my arms around him, kissing him back. Our kiss is slow and full of sweet, beautiful emotions. We melt into each other’s bodies as hurt and pain washes away.

“Found her!” Rebeka shouts, “yeah they’re making out just like you said, Sonia.” I giggle and pull away from Ian’s lips.

“Hang on… give me just a minute.” Ian says, looking down. I follow his gaze and see his member rising to the occasion, making me laugh a little louder.

“Come on, we’re lining up.” Rebeka snaps her fingers.

“Yeah… um,” I giggle, “I’ll be right there.”

“Go… it’s all good now.” Ian laughs, then presses his lips into mine.

Chapter twenty-two

Mine

**February 2001**

Ian

Iopenmyeyesto the sounds of knocking; but I’m not too sure if I dreamed it or not. I look down and see Kate curled up with her head on my chest and my arm wrapped around her shoulder. She feels perfect pressed into my body. She looks so peaceful, like the angel she is.

**Knock** **Knock** **Knock**

Someone is knocking on the door, it wasn’t a dream. I gently wiggle out from under Kate, trying not to wake her up. I climb out of bed and slip on a tee shirt and basketball shorts before opening the front door to a female omega kitchen worker.

“Sorry to bother you, sir, but Chef Marcy sent dinner for you and your mate.” The kitchen worker states, before looking down to the box of food in her arms.

“Oh wow, here I’ll take that.” I take the box out of her arms and am hit with the wonderful smell of Chef Marcy’s famous fried chicken. “Please tell Chef Marcy that Kate and I appreciate this very much.” I smile before stepping back to shut the door. I place the box of food on the table and quickly make my way back to the bed I left my Kate in.

Stepping into the bedroom, she is sitting up in bed looking at me. She has a confused look on her face, almost like she doesn’t know where she is.

“Hey angel,” I pull off my tee shirt and climb back into bed with her.

“I woke up, and you were gone. Where did you go?” Kate pulls away from me.Does she think I snuck off to be with another woman?

“There was a knock on the door… Chef Marcy sent food.” I wrap my arms around her.

“Do I smell fried chicken?” She says as she sniffs the air.

“I’m pretty sure,” I laugh, “although I didn’t check it. I couldn’t wait to get back to you.” Pulling her close to me.
