I hug my mom as I hear Charlee make her way downstairs behind me. We both spin to face her when she walks into the room. I introduce them and my mom hugs Charlee. We make breakfast together and sit down to eat. I smile as I see how perfectly Charlee fits into my life and my family. I can’t wait to do this every Sunday for the rest of our lives.
My fingers play with the ring in my pocket as Charlee and my mom continue to talk to each other. We do the dishes and my mom hugs us each goodbye saying that she’ll talk to us later. Charlee and I finish cleaning up before I swoop her up into my arms and carry her back to bed. I strip off our clothes before I spread her out on the bed and make love to her.
We make love slow this time and listening to Charlee’s breathless moans in my ear as I rock into her has me burning hot. We come together and lie in a satisfied heap as we catch our breaths.
I roll out of bed and grab my jeans off of the ground, fishing out the ring before I join her back on the bed. I slip under the covers with her and drag Charlee into me. I spoon her, wrapping my arms around her as I stroke her hair out of her face. Charlee’s eyes are closed and her mouth is parted slightly as she lays against me.
“Hey baby?” I ask, watching as her eyes blink open.
“Yeah?” She asks.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too Grayson.”
“Charlee, this last week has been the best week of my life. I can’t imagine what my life
would be like without you and I never want to find out. Having you in my life has woken me up. It’s made me see how boring and lonely my old life was. You’re it for me, baby. My mom loves you, I love you, and I know that you love both of us. I want to build you your dream house and then I want to live there with you, as your husband.”
Charlee freezes against me at my words but I press on.
“Will you marry me, Charlee?”
I pull the ring out from behind my back and hold it in front of her face. She stares wide eyed at the ring in front of her face and I can feel her whole body tense against mine. I’m a little afraid that she’s not breathing and I’m about to shake her when she finally answers me.
“I can’t.” She sobs.
