“I was. It was a dumbass move for you guys to make, but I forgave you the moment I knew you were alive.”
“I promise to never do that again.”
I reach up and run my hands down his bare arms. His skin is smooth beneath my fingers. “You are everything to me.”
“You are the same for me.”
“We fought so hard to be together, Tarnley, and I never want to lose what we have.”
His brows draw together. “We won’t. You’re my best friend, Bronywyn—the sun in my morning, and the moon in the evening. There is no existence where we are not together.”
With his words filling me with renewed strength, I smile. “Then let’s finish this fucking thing so we can retire on a beach somewhere.” I lean forward and press my lips to his. Fearghas told me the fight will never be over, and while I know that’s true, I don’t believe we can’t ever be at peace.
And that peace, those moments he described, those are what I am fighting for, what I am willing to die for. I simply hope it never comes down to that.
