take you all to show you it.”
“I’ve got nothing,” Dallas admitted.
“Nothing that could even come close to touching that,”
Trudy said.
“Nope,” Shayna sighed.
“I guess it’s official then. Quinn wins. Again.”
Quinn let out a little whoop and did a little dance. She took
the button, pinned it to the front of her sweater, and grinned at
them all. “Who wants to buy the winner ice cream?”
“It’s my birthday.” Danica pretended to pout again. “Who
wants to buy me ice cream?”
“I’ll buy everyone ice cream,” Dallas said. That raised a
few eyebrows. “If there’s a place close by. Um. If that wasn’t a
joke.”
“It wasn’t a joke!” Quinn said quickly. “Come on!” She
rattled off an address for Dallas and took off racing for her car
before anyone could change their minds.
Dallas might not have been good with faces, but if
someone gave her an address, she usually remembered it for a
good long while. She didn’t even put it in until she got back to
her rental car. She paused for a second before she turned on
the GPS or slipped the key into the ignition.
What they’d just done had been fun. Truly. She couldn’t
remember the last time she’d felt so happy, not even when
they’d done this as kids, and she took a full minute just to
savour every single bit of it.
