“Alright,” he says, and I snap my gaze to Alejandro. “I’ll send you the address of where I want to meet in a few minutes. If this plan of yours goes to hell, you’re dead, sweet Lucia. Any funny business, and you’re dead. I will personally fuck you up and gut you like a fish. I need to see you and that baby, or it’s all over. You screw with me, and I will find you and kill you. You understand me?”
“Yes, I understand.” I steel my spine, but I’m shaking.
“Good girl. Don’t disappoint me.”
The line goes dead, and I drag in a breath to clear my head.
“He fell for it, but I have to go, or he’ll kill me.”
Alejandro’s lips part, and the message comes through on the phone with the address. I show it to Alejandro.
“It’s the old power plant. That’s where my father should have died ten years ago. I don’t like this. I didn’t want you involved like this.”
“I’m doing it. I was already involved. I have to see it through. Maybe then you might forgive me.”
He gives me an exasperated look.
“You don’t have to answer that,” I say quickly. The last thing I want to hear is him telling me no. “Is it okay if I take care of Mia until we’re ready to go? I just want to be her nanny while I’m here. I won’t hurt her.”
“That was never a worry.”
“Thank you.”
I leave him. Nerves about later fill me . I have to fool Thiago. That’s no easy task.
The man is a monster.
