“I’ll save you some food,” I promise him and he crosses the room and kisses me.
“I’ll be right out,” he says as he steps away to answer the phone and I slip out the door.
Kingston
I didn’t want her to see the name on my phone. It would only cause her to worry and she doesn’t need that right now.
“Fucker,” I answer to his laughing.
“Kingston, I see that you still haven’t given her up. In fact, was that a ring I saw on her finger?” he hisses into the phone, I can also hear him punching something, probably a bag.
“So that was you,” I state, knowing I’m not going crazy.
“I’m everywhere, man,” he chuckles, “and anywhere.” What a fucking asshole.
“If you must know, we’re engaged,” I inform him. I can almost hear the anger rolling off of him as he breathes into the phone.
“Not if I have anything to do with it,” he snarls.
“Lane, you need to stop. You’re out of control,” I protest, trying to reason with him.
“See you in New York,” he snaps and hangs up.
He just hung up on me. He’s following me to New York? What the hell?
I’m not going to dwell on it right now. I will talk to Viktor later about security, but right now I have a family wanting to eat dinner. After dinner, we stay up late, drinking hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies until Briar starts nodding off.
“Let’s go to bed,” I nudge her up, waving at the guys. They know they need to get up early to go get their suits.
She crawls in bed and I am right behind her, “Briar, I need to tell you something.” She trusted me enough to tell me about herself. I need to do the same.
“What is it?” She looks nervous, like I’m going to say I have a secret girlfriend or something.
“Well, the gym is not the main source of my income,” I say as she gives me her full attention.
“No? Not that it matters to me,” she hesitates. Oh, she thinks I do illegal shit to make money. Lane does do underground fights, but I never did. I just went to watch.
“No, this hotel is. I own it,” I gesture around me.
“You own this hotel?” she squeaks, eyes widening at this revelation.
“Yes, and several others,” I nod, “I have one in California, one in Ireland, one in Texas, and another one in Vegas.”
“Soooo, that’s why you have all these nice things,” she chuckles.
“Yes. I check on the businesses when I have to, but I have a really good staff. They’re like my second family to me and I care for them like they are.”
“I see how they interact with you, like they admire you,” she agrees.
“I only have the best working for me,” I state.
“Did you think I would be mad about this? I’m not mad, just surprised,” she states.
“I didn’t think you would be mad, I just didn’t want lies between us,” I say, “and don’t freak out, but there is something else.”
“Okay?”
“Lane was here today,” I sigh.
