Briar
What is going on right now? Is he proposing?
“Will you marry me?” he asks with hope in his eyes.
I’m speechless. I’m not only in awe of the huge rock sitting in that little black box but also of the man holding it. He wants to marry me. I might have heard him wrong, right?
“Say yes,” Thorn yells from the living room and King chuckles. Here I am, wiping tears away.
“Yes, of course! Yes, I will marry you!” I squeal with joy and launch myself into his arms, toppling him to the ground.
He laughs as he pulls me into his arms and sliding the ring on to my finger after we sit back up.
“Thank you for making me the happiest man on this planet. Just so you know, my mom will probably take over all the wedding plans, be prepared,” he warns with a snort.
“I will welcome her input,” I exclaim, knowing I will need all the help I need.
I know nothing about planning weddings. I have ideas, every girl has ideas. But for me, I never thought this would ever happen and definitely never thought it would happen with a man as sexy and kind as Kingston. I actually thought I would be single for the rest of my life.
“Just wait, I’m her only son,” he teases, helping me up and kissing me to seal the deal. I laugh as he twirls me around, admiring the ring on my finger.
“This ring is gorgeous,” I whisper, smiling. I can’t believe this is real even. Though it’s happening and I couldn’t be happier.
Kingston
She fucking said yes. This is the best day of my life so far, better than winning all of my title fights. I take her hand and we go back inside, and she sits next to her brother, showing off her ring as I pour some more champagne. I hand her the glass and pull her into my lap as we watch the movie Thorn picked out. I hold her close, as she does me, wrapped up in each other. I can’t even tell you what movie Thorn picked.
“You guys want to go to the pool?” I ask them after basking in the love of Briar.
“Hell yeah,” Thorn goes to change.
“Text the guys and tell them we tried waiting on them but just to meet us out there,” I call after him.
“I thought you would never ask. Don’t worry, I’ll thank you properly later,” she winks.
“You little vixen,” I snicker.
“Only for you,” she takes my hand and drags me to the room to change.
Once I’m dressed in my swim trunks, I grab towels from the extra bathroom and link hands with Briar as we enter the elevator. Thorn ran ahead, the guys texted that they were already in the water.
As we exit the elevator, I swear I see Lane out of the corner of my eye. As I turn to get a better look, he’s gone. I must have imagined it. I let it go for now. Today is about family and friends. I set our stuff down and as Briar opens a bottle of water, her ring sparkles, catching the attention of all the guys. Tristan notices it first and points it out. I’m surprised Thorn didn’t say anything.
“Congratulations,” Tristan, Caleb, and Holden all yell at the same time with big smiles on their faces, giving Briar a hug and shaking my hand.
“He was supposed to ask in New York when we were ice skating,” Thorn says before jumping in the water.
“I couldn’t wait,” I squeeze Briar’s hand and smile at the woman I will love the rest of my life.
“Never thought I would see the day the famous Kingston Storm would put a ring on it,” Caleb smirks.
“Thanks, Caleb,” I roll my eyes.
“Still love you, man,” he grins and jumps in the pool.
“Can’t wait for New York,” Thorn hoists himself out of the pool to jump back in again. The whole time Briar is watching all of this, she just has a content smile on her face. I hope to keep it there forever.
“Now you have eye candy,” Caleb says as Briar blushes.
