“What do you want?” I ask.

“You know what I want. Don’t let her out of your sight. You might lose her,” he says with an evil smile.

“She isn’t going anywhere near you. Today was enough,” I growl.

“I always get what I want. I’m going to take you out and then she will be all mine. She will use me as her comfort,” he says.

“You’re out of your mind,” I snort. Never will that happen.

“I’ve never had a clearer head,” he says.

“Touch her and you will regret it.”

“Oh, I plan on touching her. She will be screaming my name and forgetting all about you. She has before,” he says and though I’m confused I don’t let it show.

I’m ready to throw this coffee at him and take him down right now, but I don’t.

“Oh, is someone going to cry?” he mocks me.

“I’m going to wait until the fight to destroy you,” I seethe.

“Leave, Lane,” Tristan says from behind me.

“You think you and Holden can save him or Briar? You are all pathetic. She isn’t worth all of this.”

“Then why do this?” Holden asks. Good question.

“I want her, she was mine before. I will get what I want,” he says before turning on his heels and walking off.

“Glad you guys showed up. Where’s Thorn?” I ask

“Still with Briar. He’s still a little upset and refuses to leave her. I was going to grab some food to bring back and went looking for you.”

“We’re all upset. That guy is an asshole,” Holden snaps.

“You need to get some gym time in. I brought extra gloves if you want to spar,” Tristan says.

“That’s a good idea. Tomorrow after everyone wakes up, we’ll go to breakfast and then workout. No hurry. I have two days until the fight. The press conference is tomorrow, though,” I say.

“Remo can take Briar shopping or something so she’s not around,” he says.

“Instead of grabbing something, we’ll just order burgers from Shake Shack. You guys coming?” I ask Holden.

“You had me at burgers. I’ll text the others,” Holden grins, patting his stomach, making me laugh.

We head upstairs and everyone puts in their orders. We open the doors and take turns people watching on the balcony. The night goes smoothly and everyone eats a lot of good burgers. Some of the guys break out cards to play card games. I smile as everyone has fun and laughs, forgetting all about the incident earlier.

After everyone leaves, I sit on the balcony with Briar. She’s been quiet for most of the evening, even if she laughed. Her smile didn’t reach her eyes.

“What’s wrong, sweetheart?”

“Just thinking about all of this,” she says sadly.

“It will be over soon.”

“I know.”

The way she says it has me on edge. This is starting to take a toll on her. I hope that she will get back to herself when we get home.
