“I caught them in the act,” Remo says, handing me his phone.

On it is a video playing. We watch as Embry and Lane kiss and embrace and it goes on to fucking right on their kitchen table.

“Maybe she was drunk?” Briar offers.

“No, there are others,” and he shows us videos dating back a few years.

“You knew they were seeing each other?” I ask.

“I never look at the tapes. I didn’t know until I walked in on them the other day. Then I started looking at the tapes after she made a comment about them,” Remo says.

“But at the party…..” Thorn starts, just rejoining us.

“Again, for show. I don’t know how bad she feels, but she loves you and knows you would be upset by this because of what Lane is doing. Though your sister isn’t herself right now. When I brought up Briar and what Lane was doing to her, she defended him. I only want Briar safe, and I know that Viktor can offer that. And me as well, to help all of this go away,” Remo says.

“You got men on it?” I ask and Remo nods.

“What about the boys?” Briar asks.

“They’re with your mom. I asked if she could watch them. She doesn’t know yet. Embry didn’t want to tell her yet, knowing she will disappoint Gwen,” Don says.

“We have plenty of room here, you and the boys can stay here if you want,” I offer. I’m not sure what I’m doing but Embry isn’t family right now, not with everything going on. She has to be on drugs.

“Call her,” Briar urges. She’s right, again. I should.

The door chimes signaling the food is here.

“Go. I’ll save you some,” she whispers to me.

I go to the master bedroom and dial my sister.

“Kingston.”

“What the fuck, Embry?”

“Ummm… what are you talking about?”

“You and Lane? And you’re still with him after all of this? Again, what the fuck?”

“He’s not a bad guy, just misunderstood. Have you ever thought of hearing him out?”

“You saw Briar’s throat. You think she made that up?”

She says nothing, we sit in silence for a bit.

“Stay away from us until you pull your head out of your ass,” I hiss.

“Fine. Not a problem. I’ll get Lane to run away from here,” she says.

“Great,” I agree.

“Oh, and tell Remo the boys aren’t his,” and she hangs up. What the fuck?

The kids aren’t his. I don’t know who Embry is. What the fuck is wrong with her.

I call my mom next.

“Kingston.”
